The food was delightful. It was a multi-course menu (we went for 9 courses) served one-by-one and everything was incredible. I sent many photos to friends showing how lovely it was. We had a bottle of wine with our meal, which was very tasty and well priced. It was served cooled to room temperature, which I appreciated. Service was, for the most part, attentive. Staff were quick to take plates away and bring fresh food so we weren’t waiting too long between dishes. I dropped a service star because we asked to move to a seat where both chairs could view the sea and were told it was booked, then five minutes later another couple were told they could choose that seat or another, whichever they preferred. Also there was a point where we seemed they seemed to forget about us for 20 minutes and didn’t clear away our plates (which they had done previously) between dishes. Lastly, they seemed like they wanted to take orders deliver the food quickly and quietly and get away from our table as fast as possible. They didn’t ask if we’d like the menu or any dishes explaining, just told us what the fish of the day was. For some this would be good because they were very much “not there” and not in your face. For me, I’d prefer the choice because I’d prefer to talk about the dishes, get some recommendations, etc. However, we had a complimentary pea tart to start, Amaretto and truffle to finish and both were beautiful. Atmosphere was good except I had my back to the sea and wasn’t allowed to move, there was no music, and we were right next to the door and everyone coming in and out. Most of the time I watched the staff serving food. Only these minor things could improve it but it was nice outside, the chairs were comfy, it was lively, and generally was quite nice. Overall it was fantastic and despite some possible improvements, the food was so good for such a reasonable price that I would rate it five stars overall and recommend to anyone.

Much ado about nothing. Had high expectations about this restaurant as it one of the few that has one Michelin star. Perhaps that is why my husband & I were left disappointed. Upon arrival they claimed that we had reserved because they couldn't find our reservation. Then they lay a table (that wasn't supposed to be used) hurriedly next to the bar. Table cloth has a tear in it and looked shabby. Our mood was ruined already. Then came the food. First a tiny bowl with a liquified potato mash and crispy potato as a house taste. Then our order followed. The rizzi on crostini was good. Then we had tortellaci octopus and lobster broth. As main I had a grilled fish 🐟 that was overcooked by 3 minutes and presented in an untidy, gastly manner (and had quite a few bones), some potato mash and steamed veggies. My husband had monk fish tempura on peas. It looked more like a pub dinner than that of a Michelin star restaurant. The evening was very well salvaged by the courteous server that served us and the interesting desserts. We were offered an after-dinner drink to compensate for the failed booking. However, we weren't Impressed at all by the food or presentation.

Me and my partner were yesterday in Tmun Restaurant. We chose it because they are in the Michelin Guide and there was a tuna steak on facebook menu. Beginning quite weak: menu has changed, there was no tuna in new one. Next: strange taste wine from Gozo with a mushroom flavor. For starter a fish soup which has a fantastic taste. Really good! Next, the main courses are also delicious and worth recommending until I found a worm in the salad. And this is where the problem begins. It's not about the worm, but about the staff's reaction and the chef's reaction. The waitress asked where the worm came from, then another person came asking what we were offering. The boss did not apologize and we were not offered that the food was at the expense of the company. It all took a long time and we felt like scammers. Our dishes were not finished by us and we paid for everything except one dinner. The restaurant does not have any procedures for how to behave in such situations, and it does not mean that it is of the highest level. Delicious food, service very poor.

There are many reasons why Tmun is one of the most highly rated restaurants in the Mgarr harbour area. The original review for Tmun was written in 2019 and we’re always impressed each time we went there between 2019 and 2020. The food has been consistently outstanding and mind-blowingly sensational. We decided to visit again in May 2022 and Tmun have really upped their game during the Covid pandemic, in terms of the fantastic, top-notch service and of course, the food. During our revisit, we had the cuttlefish tortellini, fish soup, stone bass and the lamb. They have really mastered textures, flavours and balance. Their command in bringing out the umami in a lot of the dishes they serve is impressive, particularly the seafood. Their fish soup in particular was impressive and every spoonful takes you back to the sea. Since our last visit, the dining experience has been truly elevated to the point where one indulges all senses. A true gem in Gozo, it’s no surprise that the stellar Tmun are now in the Michelin guide for Malta!

Extraordinary experience. I ate there alone :’) however the staff made every effort to feel comfortable and welcome. Always being attended to but discreetly and without bother. Waitress suggested a glass of wine which matched perfectly with the dishes (all seafood based) that I ordered. Was graced with 2 lovely complementary nibbles, both of which had phenomenal flavours, the wild mushroom foam in particular. I almost pity those that come here and experience the food in latter weeks as the menu is constantly changing. Here is the menu for the day and what I ordered (complete with pictures): Oyster - nori and kombu gratin Prawn tartare BBQ octopus Cured lampouki and tuna mosaic Blond chocolate pannacotta Complementary : Mushroom foam Passion fruit jelly sweet The prawn tartare was one of the most unique and innovative dishes I’ve tried to date - flavour-wise. A truly excellent culinary experience. The best I enjoyed during my stay in Malta.

The modest location and frontage do not prepare you for the remarkable food that you will enjoy. The many years of plaques and rating stickers do however provide a clue. Given the proximity to the harbor, you may reasonably expect high quality fresh seafood, and you will not be disappointed; but the preparation and presentation are outstanding. You can work out most dishes from the menu except for the airy and delicious amuse bouch of mushroom foam and the two deserts, a which chocolate Panna Cotta on dark chocolate "diet" with passion fruit gel, and the Dolce de Leche souffle with amazing walnut ice cream. As you will see from the photographs, we ate extremely well for two people, with a large variety of dishes and the food bill was a little over 50 Euro per person. NB. Whether meat or seafood, if it is finished on their Hibachi grill, you are in for a treat.
