We came to look at the menu that was standing on the street aisle and a middle-aged waitress with long blonde hair approached us and seated us at a table. The waitress, wearing a low-cut top,was leanening over the table while taking our order, she placed the laptop on our table to take our order. First, she typed the order wrongly and started from the beginning. We received bean spread as a side dish on the house bill and after that the eating utensils were not replaced. Dirty forks and knives were left on the table and were not picked up. We waited for the food for 45 minutes, when the first order arrived there was hair all over the plate, order arrived cold and the salad without tomato and two french fries were missing. At other tables the waitress was cutting and peeling salt/ice without gloves. It is very unprofesional and the kitchen is not clean, the place by it’s self does not look sanitary, bathroom the kitchen and the tables and service all very...
Read moreMy family ate at some great restaurants in Malta, but Trell was exceptional. We went to Marsaxlokk to visit St. Peter's Pool and enjoy some of the renowned local seafood, but while my wife can eat tuna and shellfish, she is allergic to most other fish. Othmane, our server, made sure that there were no problems with the dishes we ordered and even asked the chef to prepare an appetizer that was no longer officially on the menu. Everything was superb (this was some of the best seafood any of us had ever eaten), the Maltese wine was delicious, and we were able to enjoy our meal outdoors with a beautiful view of Marsaxlokk harbor at sunset. (The traditional boats in the harbor are delightful.) Kristina, the owner, took over when Othmane went off shift and was just as great as Othmane. If you find yourself in Marsaxlokk, do yourself a favor and enjoy a wonderful...
Read moreWe had high expectations for Trell, but unfortunately the meal was very underwhelming. We ordered the fish soup and octopus as starters — they were fine, but nothing special. Things went downhill with the mains: the swordfish steak was thin, completely overcooked, and dry, while the paccheri with prawns and pistachio had a strong liquor aftertaste that lingered unpleasantly for the rest of the day. The prawns themselves were so chewy they were hard to eat.
For €77, we expected much better quality and flavor. Not even a small gesture or discount was offered despite the poor food. Sadly, we won’t be...
