AVOID
All those who have given it anything above one star needs their head examining and to eat out more. Much more. Unico is yet another seaside tourist trap. Let me start by saying I had a promising start with great service from the young Colombian waiter. It went downhill from there. Food started with some decent focaccia- well their interpretation of it anyway and to be fair it was very nice.
The seafood risotto was made with frozen fish - you can so easily tell from the mushy texture when it’s thawed out. Pretty tasteless stock too.
Then came the local ‘market fresh’ fish of the day which was served whole. Told it was grilled but it was clearly fried.
The side of vegetables was a bowl of thinly sliced saled items and very limp.
The fries were just a bowl of Luke warm, limp potatoes which had obviously been keep mildly warm under a heat lamp. Sent them back and waited almost 25 mins for another bowl to arrive. Just some equally limp and overly greasy fries just hotter. Disgusting. No wonder it was also empty.
What I liked:
• The Colombian waiter
What I didn’t like:
• The food (awful) • The slow indifferent service • The price point was way too high for what you got
Do I recommend going? NO Will I go again? NO Was it good value?...
Read moreHorrible experience. Drinks took a long time to arrive and when they finally got there the waiter spilled juice all over my partners back. Being all soaking wet we had to go purchase from the clothes shop next door. To make matters worse our starter which required no cooking and was just some basic parma ham, morazella and lettuce soaked in a lot of vinegar.. took ages to arrive and when it was ready it was placed on the table next to ours. We tried to get the waiters attention with no luck. We waited another 5 mins hoping the others waiters would notice but they didn't. The clients next to us ended up handing the plate to us which was unprofessional. Less than 10 minutes later whilst we were still eating the starter they arrived with our main course. We pointed out to the waitress that we were still eating the starter but she just placed the mains anyway. Pasta was nothing special and pricey for the size of the portion. The waiters are very inexperienced and have no idea how to carry a tray with drinks (a bottle was spilled again for the table next to ours), how to care for clients and the table numbers which they kept messing up....
