Was looking for somewhere new on the rock to eat out and this place popped up on the news feed…. Reservation was made very simply on the website and our biggest fear was finding somewhere to park when we realized it was Festa night in Mellieha 🙈… a little drive around and we soon found a place to park close to the restaurant. First impressions: very clean and tidy, plenty of tables but still ample room between them to have a conversation without being drowned out by others. Background music was very easy listening and not obtrusive. Large Gin & tonic plus Negroni aperitif. Our primary waiter was James, but we also had two others but I didn’t manage to catch their names, everyone was friendly and helpful. Starters of mini Arancini and King prawns, both very good and large portions for a starter. Wine recommendation was good too. Mains were classic fish & chips and tagliata with roasted potatoes & veg…. Fish was very good, batter was crisp, beef was rare and very tasty. Not much room left for dessert so shared the chocolate cake 😋 Highly recommended and will...
Read moreDa Ciccio Cucina is an indoors restaurant with one table outside beside the road. The food is ok, which is said the same for most restaurants I've come across in Malta, bar a couple. I had the pork fillet with red wine reduction, honey glazed mange tout and baked cherry tomatoes. The mange tout and red wine reduction was delicious but there wasn't a lot of mange tout on the plate, the pork fillet was tasty but a bit dry. Dishes are served with fries and salad or potatoes (which are potatoe wedges, glorified chips) and vegetables; I had the potatoes and vegetables and the onions we're lovely but the aubagine was overcooked and mushy. The service is friendly and attentive but the kitchen was a little slow to cook the food and there were only about 8-10 other people eating in the restaurant. That said the restaurant does offer a takeaway service, which you can order on their website www-cicciocucina-com, which seemed quite popular with quite a few people coming to...

The food was excellent; I especially recommend the „Pappardelle al Funghi“, but the pizza is fine as well. However, the service wasn't as good as the food. They hardly talked to us, and if they did, they spoke in such a low volume that we could hardly understand anything. After we paid, the waitress serving us, named „Menuka“ (has not been friendly before) suddenly asked us very politely if we could rate the restaurant and mention her „great service“ so she could secure a spa gift card from her boss. I‘m sure their bosses intention was not to give them spa gifts to ask the customers for a good review, but to provide good service. However, I still recommend...
