Today we went to eat out in this restaurant. Whilst the staff was friendly, and the food was good (albeit slightly overpriced for the amount given), our lunch was marred by an unfortunate accident which could have been avoided. The upper floor of this restaurant has vertically sliding windows which were not properly opened in full prior to our visit. Our teenage daughter had her finger caught in the frame of one of these windows, which then released itself to bear its full weight on her hand, injuring her in the process. The staff was most helpful in assisting our daughter, who was temporarily in great pain. We cannot say the same for Joanne, the owner, however, who was not at all concerned as we asked to pay the bill some time later. She even had the cheek to dismiss this incident as being normal, going as far to say that this often happened whilst cleaning. We would have expected better in a situation that could have had serious consequences, more so for the owner, especially after unwittingly admitting that she knew about the problem. Such dangerous contraptions have no place in a public place, and such dismissive attitudes are a complete let down for her otherwise...
Read moreWe’ve eaten at Villager by Munchies several times over the past two weeks, and I was here last year as well. It’s safe to say this restaurant is one of the very best in town. Everything we’ve ordered has been excellent — freshly made, full of flavour, and clearly prepared with care. There’s absolutely no cutting corners here.
The staff are friendly, attentive, and always make you feel welcome. They even remembered us from our previous visit, which adds such a personal touch.
Don’t be put off by the location on a busy street — once you sit down outside, it feels much calmer than expected. And if you prefer a quieter setting, the indoor area is beautifully designed and very comfortable. Passing the pastry counter on your way in is a treat in itself — their desserts look (and taste) amazing.
Our tagliata was a real treat, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. The Nutella ice cream is an absolute dream — don’t forget to order this!
Villager by Munchies is a gem: consistent, delicious, and full of heart. I can only recommend, recommend,...
Read moreWe came here because of all the nice reviews online. My wife had a burger which was okay, I had a pizza with salmon. The pizza turned out to be pieces of smoked salmon on dry and hard focaccia bread topped with occassional dollops of cream cheese. Mind you, it was dry focaccia bread and it had no sauce or other toppings! It was like eating one giant cracker. When the waitress stopped by to ask about the food, I told her that the pizza was hardly eadible. There were no comments regarding my experience with the pizza, she only listened with raised eyebrows like my bad experience was offending her personally, then picked up the half eaten pizza and left. She then brought us our desert (we had carrot cake and tiramisu) which was great, however, she never came back! We finished our cake and wine and waited for about 30 minutes to ask for the bill but ended up going downstairs to the cash register to ask for it ourselves. One star for the service and mains. One other star only because the...
