Verdi Gzira Promenade||||We stayed here for a week in October 2025. The walls are painted black. The reception was modern and the receptionist was very welcoming. And during our stay the staff were brilliant.||We were in Room 408 with a side sea view and a bed and Breakfast package. When the lift doors opened we were greeted by a black out as the hallway lights don't come on until you step off. Room 408 was opposite the lift which is not my favourite room position regarding late night noise. Entering the room which had black walls I noticed the scaffolding outside the window on the building opposite on the small street. It was draped in loose cloth resembling a giant dusty spiders web. Above that were some occupied apartments that could look directly into our room, so the curtains would remain shut. Half of the side sea view was taken up by the scaffolding. and we didn't use the balcony at all for the week given the horrific view.||The next unpleasant surprise was an internal connecting door to the next room, invoking memories of a screaming baby and its mother who had insisted on speaking loudly on her phone at 5 am on a previous trip. My 3 worst fears, Noisy lift people, Noisy neighbours through what might be a thin door and a building site 20 feet away?? Fortunately there was some good sound insulation, so we were not disturbed in the 7 nights apart from the last night when a kid in 508 above was running round. Even the road drill and the music from Punto's across the road failed to penetrate the balconys sliding glass door.||The bathroom was tiled in, you guessed it Black tiles, and strangely it had an internal window to the bedroom which meant no lights when using the toilet in the middle of the night! On the other side of this window was a black painted cabana opposite the double bed??? What earthly use this was I could not fathom. It also had a side window to nothing. One of our cases lived on this for the week. There was little storage space, a few hangers each and a couple of niches suggesting this was a weekender hotel, so bring your own hangers. There were no drawers for your smalls like socks and pants. The bedside cabinets were tiny painted black and the hotel phone was relegated to the floor as it took up all the space. This was a room we did not want to spend too much time in, unless it was in the dark for sleeping. Unfortunately 4 days of rain didn't help, but a pair of ponchos did! Breakfast was down stairs in the small dining room. with either continental or hot options. This consisted of Scrambled eggs, Sunny side eggs, Streaky bacon, Beans, Mushrooms, roast tomatoes and Sausages. which were the same every day. There were various nice pastries, 3 types of cereal, Mixed fruit, Yogurt, fresh fruit, Toast was from an ordinary type of toaster, two coffee machines and some small pots of tea. They served this up to 10:30 and there was always something there even on a late start. Just let them know if somethings run out and they get it for you.||There are two pools upstairs. The indoor one is more the size of a large bath and would take one stroke from end to end. The outside one is L shaped and takes about 4 strokes end to end. There is a nice seating area with about 7 sun beds, and the view over the harbour and to Valletta was great.||While mentioning the rain there was flooding on the main road outside especially on the crossing between the Verdi and Punto's so take some waterproof footwear.||To recap. If sleep is important then the sound insulation was very good. If you like bright and light then this is...black as the ace of spades. The staff are great the position is good for local restaurants...
Read moreWe booked this hotel a little last minute for a long weekend. The location is ideal for getting to and from the airport (20 minutes) The area has a lot of places to visit and restaurants. We also took the bus into Valetta and it was quite easy since there were a few different bus routes that were available. Unfortunately the ferry to Valetta was not working when we were there. (We were hoping to take it) The check in and out was very fast and the staff was nice. The first day we tried to go for a swim in the pool and we were disappointed. Sadly the pool is small, and the outdoor one was very cold. It also looked really dirty. There aren't that many lounge chairs to sit in because the rooftop was not that big. The indoor pool is just a size of a jacuzzi. (That would have been nice to have a jacuzzi instead!) We did not go in also because it didn't look clean as well. Overall that was the biggest disappointment. We didn't go to the gym or the sauna, but when checking in they said you need to alert the staff if you'd like to use the sauna beause it is not switched on all the time.
We had breakfast included for our stay... and it was a good quality breakfast with Lavazza coffee, hot options, cold options, fresh juice, and overall fast service. The breakfast room was busy everyday we were there, so we sometimes had to wait for a table. But they were fast at getting it ready and really nice staff.
The rooms were new and modern. The shower was nice especially if you are handicapped because you can enter the shower without any steps. But it doesn't have a door so your floor will be wet if you're not careful. We had a balcony but the view was not very nice because we got the "Partial sea view" and so we didn't really use it much. The complmentary coffee and tea were good quality, the bathrobes were there but no slippers. (We didn't know that we had to ask for them) There is no minibar which is ok, but there is a fridge.
The resturant's food is good! We actually decided to get room service the first night and it was only 2 euros extra per plate to have it delivered to our room. The portions were huge and the food was delicious. (in fact we should have skipped a local restaurant and ordered room service instead on our last night)
The first day we were there we filled out a survey. The complaint about the pool was high on our list of things. The next day, we had a knock on the door with a nice staff member holding a bottle of maltese wine and two glasses. Also a letter personally written to us with the contact of the Hotel manager, explaining why the pool was in the state it was in, and also apologizing for negative impressions. Definitely a nice surprise! As it is a new hotel maybe there needs to be some kinks worked out, but overall this place was nice and...
Read moreWe booked a Deluxe Sea View balcony room for a week in early March and our whole stay was faultless.
As soon as we arrived in the hotel reception we were greeted with a very friendly, informative and warm welcome from wonderful Giuseppe who's customer service was flawless throughout our stay, super professional, friendly and comforting on every interaction, the same can be said for lovely Shwela whom also upheld very friendly and helpful customer service interactions
The design of the room was super sleek and modern, great wardrobe/ storage space, super comfy bed, good amenities, lovely and sparkling clean bathroom with a great shower.
Housekeeping were very attentive each day, friendly and flexible when we were relaxing in our room when they turned up.
The balcony was a great size with comfy chairs and the view was fab! We were placed on floor 2, so quite close to the ground/ road traffic so I did worry we might be disturbed by the traffic noise in the late and early hours but this was never a problem throughout our stay as the balcony doors/ whole room in general is very well sound proofed making for a peaceful stay with no disruption from adjoining rooms
The Rooftop pool was awesome, the views from the roof are even more spectacular than from our lower level balcony. The indoor pool is slightly heated so makes for a pleasant dip whatever time you rock up ( really great, long opening time 730am-1030pm if I remember correctly) The outdoor pool was very cold in the very breezy early March weather but I imagine in the warmer months it would be delightful. ( I however love an icy shock therapy dips so made daily use of the cooler pool) There are also tables and chairs on the rooftop and I believe you can request bar service so if you don't book a balcony room this is another great facility / option.
We did not pay for breakfast on any morning during our stay because we are more on the go people whilst we explore the destination but the restaurant area and breakfast spread looked lovely and super clean from the reception area.
The location of the hotel is also fantastic, you're sandwiched between a vast mix of restaurants and bars ( not too closely for them to be disruptive as mentioned above ) so we found somewhere to eat and grab a drink each night with ease as there's so much to choose from. It's also only a short 4-5 mins walk to the Valleta ferry terminal and even closer to bus stops that take you in either direction towards St Julian's Bay & beyond or Valleta if the Ferry isn't running.
We will be sharing this review on as many platforms as we can because we honestly cannot recommend the whole hotel, sea view room, pools and service highly enough. We will definitely be booking...
