Honestly a bit sad to have to be writing this bad review because it could have so easily been avoided but this place has complete and utter disregard for client needs and wants. Upon arrival and seeing the menu I asked, first thing, whether there was any chance one of their dishes could be made not spicy. They said it was no issue, they would put no spice or very little if I wanted. We came to an agreement and waited for our food. Once it arrived my food was super spicy- they had not changed anything from the usual and my friends who were more tolerant to spice even had a bit of a struggle with all the dishes, mine included. I complained to the waiter who alledged that the chef had put very very little spice in, which honestly felt like I was being gaslit into believing my very spicy food wasn't spicy. I ended having to struggle to eat the food because their response made me sure I would not be getting a refund and having to waste €14 worth of food. I even asked for milk or yoghurt to make the experience a bit more tolerable, to which I was told to buy a custard desert for €5. I would not suggest this place if you want to alter anything on the menu even slightly- they will ignore your request even after making you believe they are taking it into...
Read moreThe chao main is by far the greatest I have ever had. Yang is a truly great Chef and will be happy to customize your dish. The dumplings are excellent. They do not have the doughy quality many lesser houses do. They are crisp and thin and the ingredients are steeped to a point of suppleness without being wet. It is a small space, but intentionally so. This recreates Chinese street food in Malta. If you seek authenticity from your chinese food experience in Valletta, Drunken Dumpling is the place. I have sadly maken the mistake of going elsewhere in Malta and there is no comparison. If you are not Chinese and you wish it to be spicey, look her right in the eye and say so, she can cautious about making it too spicy, but will do it if you are confident. Don't come crying to me or them if that does not work out for you. Yang takes her chili...
Read moreWe arrived at our reservation time of 8pm, but a couple without reservations & some American influencers ordering out were blocking the entryway. After checking if anyone had a reservation, we went inside to get out 8pm table but the guy (clearly overwhelmed) gestured a shove to the door. I told him we had a reservation and he said "yeah but I've still got to wipe down the tables," etc and basically told us to get out. It was a really weird exchange. Poor guy was clearly overwhelmed and the place seemed great (which is why we reserved) but it was such a rude and uncomfortable response to someone turning up on time that we decided to go somewhere else.
Still I wish the best for the restaurant but I've never been shoved outside having turned up on time. A massive shame but wish...
