An absolute gem in the centre of Valletta, yet a relaxing and peaceful stay, with luxurious surroundings and stunning views. I stayed here in ‘Layla’ room for 3 nights. 30th Aug to 2nd Sep. I was met by Dorothy and Charles, locals to Malta and Gozo, and immediately was made to feel so welcome. When I walked into the Guest House I was immediately taken with the beautiful interior. Dorothy gave me a map, showed where I was within Valletta so I could get my bearings, and marked off lots of places of interest. Valletta Lucenta is in a perfect location. Very central to the old town and so close to all the places you will want to see. Lovely cafes and restaurants within minutes. So many to choose from. Amazing ice cream bars. Also minutes walk from Sliema and 3 cities ferry.
My suitcase was taken to my room and Dorothy took me up in the lift. When I walked into Layla room I didn’t know where to look first. It is stunningly beautiful. So unique, with beautiful furniture, artwork, nooks and crannies, plants, beautiful tiles and then she showed me the two terraces. Wow! The very large lower terrace has lovely big sofas, 2 umbrellas which light up and have usb points and amazing plants everywhere. Then up the stairs to the upper terrace. I could not believe the view. A Panoramic view across to the 3 cities. At night it was so beautiful. Also a table and 4 chairs. There is a switch inside the room by the beautiful yellow door for lights out here too. I ate up here on one evening because I didn’t want to leave it. The whole of the guest house is a work of art. Make sure you go down the stairs instead of using the lift because, again, it is beautiful. So many things to see on the way down. Charles and Dorothy have put so much love into creating this interior. Charles had to carry everything by hand for the restoration, an absolute labour of love. So much artwork everywhere, lots created by Charles himself. So talented. Even the breakfast room is beautiful. So unique and full of character. Charles cooks the food and what a feast! So much to choose from and everything delicious. Valleta old town is beautiful and if you are looking for somewhere to stay, I absolutely recommend this guesthouse. You will not be disappointed. I am definitely coming back to Valletta as 3 days was not enough, and I will definitely be staying at Valletta Lucenta. I was travelling solo and I felt very safe there. You have to see this guesthouse in person to appreciate its luxury and beauty. Thank you Dorothy and Charles for making me so welcome. I cannot...

N35°53′50.5″ E14°30′48.3″ oppositie the entrance to St. Paul Shipwrecked Church on St. Lucy street and a 9-minutes walk from the Il-Belt Valletta central bus stop, this 11-room B&B is located in the heart of the old Valletta district. The five-story building itself is a 400-year-old house, converted into a B&B by owner Charles five years ago, preserving authenticity over practicality. A new lift was installed and two new floors added, but the building is still a challenge for the physical impaired.
In October 2021, our Lucia room on the second floor (3F) had a corridor as a living room and a separate bedroom. You can sit in the traditional bay window overlooking the street. The furniture is a clash of classic and modern taste, which gives a romantic feel. The room had a comfortable double bed, air conditioning (a bit noisy and cools down to 24°C), good Wi-Fi (each room has its own Wi-Fi code, so no Wi-Fi anywhere else), good shower (a towel was needed to keep the bathroom from overflowing), television, kettle for tea or instant coffee, hairdryer and two adapters for BS 1363 British style plugs. No minibar or coffee maker but two free bottles of natural and sparkling water everyday.
At weekends, English tourists turn Valletta into an open-air street singing festival. The window of the bedroom was double-glazed but not the bay window of the corridor, so light sleepers might consider a more expensive room at the back of the building. On the other hand, you can have a late-night drink on the street in front of Valletta Lucente or sing and drink like an English football fan around the corner in Merchant Street.
The breakfast buffet is served downstairs and offers delicious homemade items such as frittata, cold cuts and cheeses. The breakfast is outstanding.
In Valletta’s old quarter, with its churches, museums and restaurants, hotel prices are high. We booked the room by e-mail and avoided the high fees of online travel agencies. For a 7-night stay in October 2021, in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, we paid €100 per night including breakfast.

Read moreDO NOT LEAVE YOUR LUGGAGE HERE IT IS A SCAM. Outside the hotel it is advertised that you can leave your bag/luggage for ALL DAY. When we went inside we asked the Indian girl from the stuff if we could leave our bags until after midnight and she told us that we could take our bags till 6 am in the morning ( no proper receipt). When we came back at 1:00 the doors were closed. We called the receptionist and she told us that they were not open and that we could not get our bags, I told her that we had a flight and that we were informed that they would be open until 6 am to which she responded that it was not true and that she will come in 10 minutes.
After she came she opened the door slightly and was demanding that we had to give her extra 10 euros for the late pick up, even tho we explained to her that we were informed otherwise by the Indian woman worker and since we asked SPECIFICALLY if we could pick them up after midnight. SHE WOULD NOT GIVE US THE BAGS IF WE DID NOT PAY HER EXTRA MONEY.
When she asked for the paper we got when we left the bags and I gave it to her it was written inside that the pick up was till 6 pm BUT WHEN THEY GAVE IT TO US IT WAS FOLDED AND TOLD US TO JUST PUT IT INSIDE OUR WALLET.
I asked her if I could pay with card and she said that we either pay cash or we don’t get the bags. Since I had a flight to catch we ended up paying her. This place needs to be fined for not giving receipts and for scamming people for their FALSELY ADVERTISED “ALL DAY” baggage storage.
THIS IS A SCAM AND IT SHOULD BE PUNISHED BY MALTAS LAW. ME AND MY FRIEND ARE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS AND THESE TYPE OF SCAMS JUST PORTRAY A BAD IMAGE FOR THE OVERALL WONDERFUL...
