SEE UPDATE THIS MAN IS NOT OK
We became seriously ill just hours after eating the hamburgers here – vomiting and diarrhea ruined two full days of our holiday. We gave the owner several chances to resolve this, but he refused any refund or apology and even accused us of lying. His arrogant focus on CCTV cameras instead of food safety was shocking.
Flic&Flac has wonderful restaurants with great hospitality, like Pakbo and King Snack Seafood Corner, but this place was the exact opposite. For your health and peace of mind, avoid Maravann Burgers.
UPDATE: We became seriously ill just hours after eating the hamburgers here – vomiting and diarrhea ruined two full days of our holiday. Instead of showing any concern, the owner responded with arrogance, denial, and bizarre accusations. He even suggested we needed to provide “medical proof” of food poisoning – as if any tourist on the other side of the world would run to a doctor for that. What nonsense.
This aggressive and defensive reaction only highlights the strange behavior of this man. He twists the story, calls honest guests scammers, and behaves as if he is the self-appointed “mayor” of restaurants in Flic-en-Flac. Meanwhile, we enjoyed excellent meals at other restaurants like Pakbo and King Snack Seafood Corner, where we paid fairly, tipped generously, and left positive reviews.
It is also disturbing that this owner films both staff and guests with his cameras, focusing more on surveillance than food safety. In most free countries, such constant recording would not even be allowed. We blocked him because he kept stalking and even threatening us after the complaint – highly unprofessional and unsettling.
The sad truth is that instead of caring about his customers’ wellbeing, this man only cares about his ego. He is a negative influence on the hospitality reputation of Flic-en-Flac. We sincerely wish him luck – perhaps he is still dreaming of a Michelin star. For your health and peace of mind, avoid Maravann Burgers.
What’s laughable is that he even dragged other restaurants into his story, claiming we supposedly tried the same there. In low season, only a handful of places were open, and we were in Flic-en-Flac for just five days – two of which we spent sick from his so-called “famous burgers.” He doesn’t name any restaurants, because he can’t. We ate at three places: two were fantastic (see our positive reviews) and then there was his burger joint, where he spends his time shouting at staff instead of focusing on food safety. His whole story is nonsense. Normally I stay calm, but in this case I will not accept threats and I will not tolerate lies.
Lastly, let me point out that we came here all the way from Europe, spending thousands of euros just to be in Mauritius. Do you really think we would try to scam a restaurant owner for a few euros? Tourists come here to spend their money, and we are more than happy to support the hardworking Mauritian people. For a European, it’s simply not worth it. In the end, it says more about the owner’s mindset than...
Read moreWe went there after Sunset. We heard they are fairly new in town and they have good burgers. It's a little place where you can eat outside. The stuff were very friendly. As per the server's recomandation we had the double beef burger and one of the chicken burgers and some fries. The fries were soft on the inside and crispy on the outside and they were coated with some nice condiments. Tasted very good. We waited a little longer for our burgers but not much, around 10-15 minutes. They looked like normal burgers, I wasn't amazed. I had the double beef burger which had one fried egg on top. I had a bite and I thought I was in heaven. I kid you not, I think it was one of the best burgers of my life. I didn't have a good burger since forever, I can't even remember when I ate a good one. I had mine cooked medium. There were juices, there was bbq taste, there was balanced seasoning, I loved it and I wholeheartedly recommend you try this burger or any other at this place. I tried also the chicken one, also very good. The prices are a bit high but you really get what you pay for. 500rs for the double beef one - this one is the most expensive one the menu 325rs for the...
Read moreWhilst staying in Flic en Flac we walked by Maravann a few times. When we finally got the chance we headed down to sample the burgers.
After confirming the menu was Halal, we ordered the burger of the month, le Chamarel, Pieter Both, Le Maconde and sofe Ravanne plus the obligatory fries and drinks. Our bill total came to 2465MUR (roughly £41) which we thought was an absolute bargain considering the size of the burgers and the quality of the meat.
The beef was cooked to perfection and there was no gristle in sight and the chicken was grilled retaining all the moisture you’d expect.
The atmosphere was lovely and we really enjoyed the music which gently filtered through the air.
Service was a friendly and informal team of two who worked together seamlessly to prepare and present some staggeringly delicious burgers.
Outdoor seating only which was lovely in the warm evening breeze.
If you’re heading down this way in Mauritius you should definitely add this to your culinary experience, you won’t be...
