Whenever I have a chance, I choose small family owned businesses to support local communities. I read very positive reviews about the place, but when I entered Cocina Orizaba and asked for two aguas frescas to go (watermelon and melon), I was given very weird attitude from the server as if he was frustrated he had to take my order at all. Fortunately, the drinks were tasty, fresh, and, what is more important, not too sweet. The prices there are definitely budget friendly. The entire communication was in Spanish so for sure it was not about the language barrier. Read moreNot quite a Cocina Familiar, but close to it. The family is in an open kitchen, cooking and are very friendly. They are open till 4pm and have take our or dine-in.
I had the tostadas, which were $60 pesos for 3 of them. I noticed the Mexican diners ordered from the "Lunch Selections" which was just $100 pesos and they got soup, rice, salad, hot tortillas and the main dish. I'll be back to order that!

We stayed in Bacalar 2 days and we ate at Cocina Orizaba 3 times. Yes, the food was that good that we kept coming back. My daughter loved the huevos in salsa roja and I loved the panuchos.
