Unfortunately we had a bad experience here. Food was mediocre. From the different things we had, the al pastor tacos were the best. Apart from that, we experienced it not very flavorful, the queso within the quesedias chewy and unpleasant. What made this experience at "Mr. Taco" a really bad one was the service. One sauce bottle exploded on me and my partner. The reaction was "let me save your food. Here are napkins". No sorry, no empathy - nothing. On my question on if I could have at least a wet towel, I was told to go to the bathroom. We ate our food and expected at least something afterwards maybe one sorry for ruining my white shirt? We got the bill, again nothing. I asked how we handling the situation now, the waiter told me to go to the bathroom. I was baffled. My partner asked if we could at least get something on the house, the waiter laughed. I asked why he's now laughing. He said he is not laughing, laughed again and went away. We expected not much but coming out of the hospitality business, I expected at least a sorry for a fault that was not mine. This could have been handled so much better if the waiter would have cared about the guests and not only the money. My recommendation, go to one of the other more authentic taquerias and if you have to go, beware of the salsa bottles and dont expect to much...
Read moreI didn’t know it was possible to ruin a taco so thoroughly – until I went to Mr. Taco. What we got was not food. It was an insult wrapped in a tortilla.
Let’s start with the most shocking part: there were peas in the taco. Yes, actual green peas – like someone dumped the contents of a frozen veggie bag into my dinner and called it Mexican cuisine. Why the hell would you put peas and rice in there...
The meat was somewhere between rubbery and suspiciously undercooked. The salsa had the consistency of watered-down ketchup. And after reading other reviews mentioning food poisoning and stomach issues, we spent the rest of the night wondering if we’d made a serious mistake by eating there.
The service? Cold, careless, and seemed annoyed we even showed up. No welcome, no smile, no “how was it?” – probably because they already know.
Mr. Taco is not just bad – it’s a crime against tacos. Avoid at all costs, unless you enjoy bland food, weird vegetables, and the fear of...
Read moreWe were recommended this place by our hotel. We’ve been traveling Mexico for two months and these were unfortunately the worst tacos we’ve had.
The restaurant was packed and had a good vibe, but not many (if any) locals, which maybe paints a picture.
Service was decent.
I had mole and tinga chicken tacos and El Pator. The El Pastor was pretty good, but both chicken ones were overcooked and chewy, the flavours were fine.
My girlfriend had fish tacos which were very bad. The batter was so thick it wasn’t cooked through, you can see in the photo I attached. The fish itself didn’t feel cooked through either, so it wasn’t eaten.
Maybe this place can be decent on another night when they cook their meat and fish properly, but it wasn’t for us unfortunately.
If you want cheap, volume and a nice vibe maybe give it a try and you might have a better experience than us. However, I wouldn’t go back or really...
