Balneario Ejidal Mágico Bacalar is truly one of the most special places in town—a hidden gem that offers breathtaking access to the lagoon without the crowds or high prices of some of the other spots. If you're looking for an affordable, beautiful, and peaceful way to enjoy the magic of Bacalar, this is the place to go.
From the moment we entered, we were struck by how clean, well-kept, and welcoming the space is. The staff at the entrance were friendly and helpful, and the entry fee is incredibly reasonable considering what you get—crystal clear waters, shady palapas, wooden docks stretching into the lagoon, and plenty of space to relax, swim, or just soak in the view. It never felt too busy, even during peak hours, and there was always a quiet corner to enjoy.
The water here is unreal. Those iconic seven shades of blue? You can see them all from this spot. The color changes depending on where you stand on the dock, and there’s nothing like diving into the cool, clear lagoon with the sun overhead and gentle breezes blowing through the trees. Whether you want to swim, float, kayak, or just sit on the dock and do nothing at all, it's perfect.
We also appreciated the local, community-oriented vibe. It didn’t feel touristy or over-commercialized—it felt like a place where locals and travelers coexist, sharing a space that is loved and respected. You can bring your own snacks and drinks, and there are shaded tables and spots to picnic. There’s even a little restaurant and bar on site if you want to grab a cold cerveza or a plate of ceviche between swims.
What we loved most was the peacefulness. It’s family-friendly, laid-back, and full of natural beauty. No loud music, no chaos—just the sound of water lapping, birds singing, and kids laughing in the distance.
We ended up coming back more than once during our stay in Bacalar. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel grounded, calm, and connected to nature. Don’t skip this balneario—it’s called mágico for...

Entry fee was very inexpensive. You get access to changing rooms, a restaurant, bar, slides/amusement area, souvenir shop, and there’s pontoon tours that take you around the lagoon.
The food was surprisingly delicious! And big portions too! The margaritas were made with fresh lime juice. There is an older gentleman that sings and plays the keyboard welcoming guests and interacting. He was adorable.
This place is perfect for kids. They can run around freely and you can sit under the shade, eat tacos and drink beer and whatever you want.
Service was excellent- and fast!
If your expecting peace and quiet - you won’t get it at any of the semi-public lagoon launches. Stay in your resort. There’s lots of locals, Mexican tourists and foreign tourists. It was a great experience and glad we came even though we did have access via our hotel. Just nice to go out and...
