This place will make your mouth water as you approach from the sidewalk outside. It's a casual, clean and welcoming atmosphere. But the menu and food brings a ravenous smile to those who came to eat. My generous Chateaubriand for two came on a very large platter with delicious potatoes, salad and grilled vegetables like whole tomatoes, baby onions, prickly pear cactus, zucchini and of course the ubiquitous grilled jalapenos of Mexico. Of course the beef was tender like mignon, grilled medium rare on the namesake mesquite wood fired parrilla. The flavor, truly delicious and the deserved crown dish of this restaurant. It needed no accompaniment, but is served with a cream and mushroom sauce that is rich and buttery. However they have an arsenal of amazing looking burgers and many cuts of steak flying in from the open air kitchen to many delighted tables. The hamburgers are gigantic and look to be hand formed patties that only a true burger lover would make. They're menu goes on and on. El Mezquite Grill is...

My wife and I have been here twice in the last three years and we have nothing but great things to say about El Mezquite Grill in La Paz. The food and the service are top notch! I normally do not rate a restaurant on their service. I rate them on their food because that is what I am there for.

Our first time here I ordered the 1.1 pound double cheeseburger with fries and a perfectly grilled fillet with baked potato and salad. It was absolutely mouth-watering and delicious. On our second trip we both ordered the fillet with baked potato and salad and they did not disappoint.

If you are not paying attention while driving and looking for this place you will miss the restaurant so look closely and enjoy!

Update from 05/29/2025 This is our 4th time back here and this place still does not disappoint. I went with the "El Mezquite" burger and fries cooked to medium and it was cooked to perfection. My wife and son both had filet's and they were top notch as usual and the flan...

This place was AMAZING! I enjoyed everything. From the time we stepped in that restaurant. I loved the marinated jalapeños they were so GOOD! We had the octopus as an appetizer and my husband said he would drive back for just their pulpo. He had the burger with bacon he loved it. The food is the best I had in Mexico. I can’t wait to go back to La Paz for this restaurant every time. It’s a spend the night in La Paz. I live in Los Barriles and the night drive is scary and dangerous! I’m so upset I only shared my photos on Instagram. So I can’t share. I had a shrimp cake dinner. idk the name but it was so yummy. My daughter had the filet mignon it was spectacular. Perfectly cooked. The prices of the meal was reasonable wasn’t cheap but worth every penny. I wish I had photos. Next time I...

We tried this restaurant upon a recommendation, and were very pleased. The service was great, and the food very good. We started with an order of bread, and also grilled vegetables (which included cactus). The skirt steak saute is like an American fajita, complete with tortillas and guacamole. Of course, skirt steak being what it is, there were tendony bits, no surprises. My husband had the ribeye, rare, and it was cooked perfectly. Not US prime grade, but still good. He had the margarita, which leaned toward oranges, and was not too potent. Too much food! If we ordered the same main dishes again, we'd skip the bread and grilled veggies. We also saw lots of hamburgers delivered to neighboring tables, and they looked delicious. All in all, a good choice for dinner.
