From the moment we walked into Janta Asian Pub, we were expecting a casual, laid-back Asian restaurant. What we got instead was an absolutely extraordinary dining experience—one that rivals, and in many ways surpasses, the best I’ve had in New York City and Los Angeles.

Our server, Osiris, made the night unforgettable. He was not only welcoming and warm, making us feel instantly at home, but also remarkably knowledgeable about the menu. It was a blast to nerd out with him about the unique ingredients and cooking techniques that make Janta’s offerings so special. His passion and expertise turned a great meal into a truly exceptional one.

The food? Simply incredible. We started with the Thai calamari, a perfectly executed dish that was both delicious and delightfully unique. The ramen was packed with flavor and beautifully balanced—comforting yet sophisticated. The local catch sashimi blew us away, with its fresh, buttery fish accompanied by a vibrant, chunky bell pepper and ginger sauce (chunky doesn’t do it justice—it was textural, bold, and divine).

And then there was the nigiri. Wow. This wasn’t just good—it was better than any nigiri I’ve had at top-tier sushi establishments, including Nobu. The fish was impossibly fresh, the cuts generous yet precise, and the balance between rice and fish was perfection. It’s hard to describe how mind-blowing it was to discover such exquisite sushi in an unexpected place like Janta.

We left utterly floored, already dreaming about our next visit. Compliments to the talented kitchen team for delivering such an exceptional menu, but even more so to Osiris, who elevated the entire experience to something truly unforgettable. After hours of searching for a good sushi restaurant in La Paz, we finally found Janta Asian Pub, and it exceeded all our expectations! Newish sushi place. They were pretty busy and had a few big parties celebrating birthdays. Despite that, they accommodated a last minute reservation and were very attentive. Portions are on the smaller side for appetizers but all the food was very tasty. The fish was pretty. Rolls were decent. Looks like this place is associated with Shishito Sushi because they have a section of rolls of Sushito classics. Not my thing because they all have cream cheese. They do have enough rolls without cream cheese. Drinks were super good with the fave being the Flor de Jamaica. The panna cotta is not very panna cotta like but the mango purée jelly is good.
