We came to this restaurant because it was recommended by a taxi driver. My fiancé and I came to La Paz on a little summer getaway. We came in with high expectations. The vibe and location was great! Unfortunately, we had to start deducting stars shortly after arriving.
First, the mango margaritas we ordered were tasteless. It was as if they gave us unsweetened mango purée juice. It was blended and we didn’t get straws. We had to ask for straws twice!
Second, the food arrived. The food was very dry. Stay away from the lobster and stingray tacos. They were dry and not tasty. The scallop taco were not too bad. The Lobster stuffed Chile relleno was not what I expected as it was a seafood mix which was not listed on the menu. There was more shrimp, scallops, octopus in it than lobster. I actually don’t think it had any to be honest.
Third, the menu stated 95 pesos for lobster tacos, but we were charged 135. When we questioned it they said the prices went up but they hadn’t updated the menu. That just seemed very wrong, and to be honest, unprofessional.
Fourth, the service was bad. We waited forever on the straws, which normally we can do without but it was nearly impossible to sip a blended margarita. Then napkins, again we had to ask 2 different waitresses for napkins.
Overall it was not a pleasant experience. Needless to say, I would not return nor would I...
Read moreIt is always important to check RECENT reviews! I was looking forward to eating here l based on the overall high rating and more than 5,000 reviews. Great location, fun vibe, and they seem to be a longtime favorite in La Paz (since 1968). As of November 2021, the food & service were bad.
We ordered guacamole, 2 entrees, and 2 cocktails. Guac was ok but lacked flavor. Mojito was good; margarita was a sugary syrup mix.
As far as entrees, tacos came first — shrimp, fish & lobster. Ok flavors, but all were cold. Unintentionally cold that is. Then, there was a 30 minute delay before the other meal was brought out with no explanation. We assumed the waiter must have misunderstood or forgot to write it down and were ready to ask for the check and leave.
When the special “Sunday only” seafood Paella finally arrived it was overcooked AND there were slices of hot dog in it! Not some fancy chorizo — literally hot dogs. Very bizzare.
The dish looked good from a distance when we saw other people order it but it was basically inedible. Also, it seemed to attract every fly from the neighborhood.
That said, I’d sit on their patio and drink some cervezas but...
Read more(Second review) I gave Bismarkcito a second chance because the food was really fresh and tasty, even if in my first experience the service was quite bad. The second time was definitely much better, the waiter was super attentive and warm, his service was prime, and the food was delicious. I will give it a few more tries before I upgrade to 5 stars, if my first experience with service was not the norm, the place will definitely deserve five stars.
(First review) OK, fair is fair. The location is great, the food is fresh and very flavorful, but where this place loses me is in the service, it was cold, hinting on rude, and slow. I tried my best to engage with the servers, and all I got back was a grumpy sound. When I arrived I asked for a table for one and one of the servers said they had no availability when 2/3 of the restaurant was empty! Even if the scallops were prime quality, I not only dine somewhere for the food. If the service is not as prime as the food, not worth my...
