Nice place. Great outdoor spots to eat. The food is really nice. Loved the breakfast that came with tortillas to wrap your eggs and bacon in. Tea is not their specialty, be warned. They'll serve it lukewarm.
Great playground for kids and nice banos. Be aware that you must go up to the window to order. They will then bring your food to you.
Updated 2/06/2018:
We returned with our kids last week and i wanted to add a bit to my review.
This is a lovely location, great internet connection and the food is good. They still do not do well with their hot drinks and a year after my first visit they were still (or again) out of chai tea. Disappointing that they don’t win at drinks because their mugs are adorable and make it look so appealing!
*My issue with this place two years in a row, once with only adults and once with kids in tow, is the snobby unwelcome feel you get from the regulars. (All white peoples who have moved down there...which means at one point they too were visitors). When they see that there are no seats available, they make themselves more comfortable even though their food is long gone. We even have la Esquina a last try on our last day in town and found the same thing again. Same regulars, same snobbery. Not impressed.
Also, their plate presentation is part of the charm, so it’s not worth taking and order to go, in my opinion. We did that on one visit when the locals wouldn’t make space for us and many orders were wrong and it...
Read moreWe visited Todos Santos in April, and La Esquina was our go-to spot for the week for breakfast. We encountered none of the unfriendly expatriates nor long lines nor slow service mentioned in the few complaints here -- quite the opposite on all counts. Plenty of folks have mentioned the consistently outstanding food. I'll add a few of my favorite details:
First of all, the dining area itself: outdoors on a partially shaded patio, it's easy to find just the right combination of sun and shade for the weather. Most of the tables (and chairs) here are round, which creates an incredibly cozy, friendly, and conversational vibe.
Second, while I didn't try the tea that someone mentioned being only lukewarm, I did drink the coffee. And it was good. I mean really good. We're from the Northwest and take our coffee very seriously -- to be honest I was a bit concerned that I'd have trouble getting a rich enough cup while traveling to satisfy my addiction -- but it turns out my worry was for naught. The house coffee is plenty delicious here, but more importantly they make a truly excellent cup of espresso. The lattes, americanos, and cappuccinos are all great. They know quite well how to draw a rich and smooth shot, how to make a proper foam, and everything else that goes along with being a great barista. And the beans are top notch. If you're an espresso lover, don't hesitate to...
Read moreI have been a customer here for probably a decade. It is a little oasis despite being right next to a busy street. When I am in Todos, around once a year or so, my go to breakfast here is the chorizo and eggs. I love chorizo and eggs, have had it at many different places in the US and Mexico and I can say that La Esquina's version is easily the best that I have had anywhere. See photo below.
They have excellent smoothies as well. Their coffee isn't the best in town, but it is passable. I would say that they have created one of the more pleasant dining environments in town, particularly when you consider they are not located on a beach, a rooftop or a mountain. I think they are reasonably priced. Every time I am in Todos, I pay at least one visit to La Esquina. Give it a try and see...
