A group of 6 of us were visiting the city for vacation back in February and wanted some breakfast/brunch and stumbled upon this very cute place after walking a few blocks. They made us feel right at home from the moment we sat down. We were offered fresh fruit while we were waiting which was so nice and delicious to say the least. A majority of us got the Cafe de Olla (Pot Coffee) and had to be the best coffee we have ever had, by far 10/10. I had the breakfast combo that had eggs, chilaquiles, and a tamale Oaxaqueño that I still dream about and ordered another on the side to share with my partner. We loved the tamales so much that we went out of our way to go back to get some for the ride back to our Airbnb because it was our last day in San Jose but they had sold out already which was a bummer but we would come back here again as our go to breakfast place in San Jose del Cabo. I cannot give this place a higher rating and such a nice family and amazing and attentive service. Would recommend this for anyone and worth the journey for the food alone! Their Instagram is full of pictures of food for reference @mamachepamx and couldn't find their menu online but found the Menu QR code that we used while we were there...
Read moreOur group had a very enjoyable lunch at Mama Chepa in San Jose del Cabo. We noticed this quaint little establishment in our meandering and decided we needed to give it a try. Our young server was friendly and helpful and our food was delicious. The dishes seemed (to our Canadian palates) to be authentic and were very reasonably priced. Lunch for 4 was about 700 MXP (plus tip) which is a fraction of many of the other places we ate at. Don’t let the humble appearance discourage you from eating here!
Update: We had such an enjoyable lunch that we decided to return a couple of days later for breakfast. I had an iced latté and the Mama Chepa omelette and was delighted with both. My wife was all Mexican-ed out by that point and opted for a simple stack of pancakes that were also excellent.

Read moreI highly recommend stopping by Mama Chepa to grab a bite! This restaurant is tucked away in the corner of downtown San Jose, and it is an absolute gem. The staff are extremely friendly, welcoming, helpful, and patient. When we stopped by for lunch, we were lucky to have a wonderful server. She took time to carefully explain every menu item to us, patiently answered our many queries (as we do not speak Spanish!) and continued to check in with us during our meal! We tried the Enchiladas and I have to say, they were amazing! Additionally, the ambience of the restaurant was perfect. The owner, Manuel, is very friendly and took the time to help us figure out how to navigate the area and surrounding towns! He even shared some awesome historical facts about Cabo, which was super helpful and lovely! Make sure you don't miss this place while you're in San Jose!...
