***Update 2023*** We went here again on our last night in Cabo. I cannot say enough for the food and the people at this restaurant. The service here is outstanding, yes you have to wait for your food to be cooked, it's on an open grill, not some magic behind the scene. I am from Texas and travel a lot for sales and this was THE BEST STEAK of the year, maybe my life, it was that good. They had decorated for Christmas which was super charming. Go here, it's a must! *2022* Man oh man, this is absolutely one of the best restaurants in San Jose del Cabo. It has great atmosphere with its tree canopy open patio, it's simple also with wood tables and chairs but comfortable. Almost everything is cooked on the open wood flame which is outside in the patio but next to the kitchen.. Then the food, oh wow. We ordered the Cazuela as a starter - wonderful flavor of the flame grilled chorizo, mild not spicy but went well with the fresh sautéed spinach, onions, and baby bella mushrooms. Then we had the Rib-eye with roasted garlic potatoes and the Costillas de Cerdo (pork ribs) with grilled veggies. Both dishes were cooked to perfection. The rib-eye, paired very nicely with the potatoes and a very delicious parsley pesto type of garnish, and the ribs were juicy, tender, and had a great char on top, not burned, and a nice easy BBQ sauce. And topped with grilled pineapple. Wow, this was a wonderful experience. Gracias!!!

Traspatio was a gem we found on a quiet Tuesday night. The atmosphere was vibrant yet pleasant. We walked in as a family of four and welcomed by the host. Our waiter was Juan.We were seated right away, and drink orders were taken. We could tell the service was going to be the top shelf. Attention to detail was of the utmost importance as they returned with our drinks, and app orders were taken. The appetizer was casuela. It had grilled portobello mushrooms and grilled chorizo with reduced caramelized onions and fresh spinach leaves to eat on pita wedges. We ate this alongside a spicy chimichurri sauce and olive taupanaude that was served with the basket of bread that came out. This bar was set high for the mains because we devoured the appetizers. The smokiness of the wood fired grill really set into the flavours. What followed was just as delicious and, in some cases, raised the bar even higher. The grilled chicken, skirt steak done medium well, tender grilled octopus, and a whole romain leaf ceasar salad. I'm definitely looking forward to coming back.

I rarely say this about any restaurant, but everything I ate here was fantastic! Our meal started with the kindest staff. They were so welcoming and attentive. It was like a 5-star experience. We started with a super fresh salad with cranberries and candied walnuts... the dressing was perfect and not too strong. I had the cowboy steak, and it was cooked to a perfect med-rare, and its tenderness was only rivaled by its amazing flavor. And to top it off, the baked potato was a wonderful side with all the tasty additions. The location was so calm and quaint and filled with unique style it was a very nice change from the "starile resort" settings everywhere else. We loved the live music. It was a mix of local and English tunes played by a very talented (assumed) father and son...so cute. We will absolutely come back here when we visit.

TLDR; They sell their passion not a meal.

This is my first review ever, but my experience at this restaurant was so exceptional that I feel compelled to share. From the moment we walked in, Juan set the tone for an unforgettable evening. Since it was a weekday and a bit early for dinner, we were one of only two tables being served, giving us a more intimate experience.

The quality of the food and the attention to detail was outstanding, but what made the difference was the entire staff contributed to the warm and inviting atmosphere, with live music adding a special touch to the evening.

What made this dining experience truly remarkable, was the evident dedication and hard work of every staff member. From the talented musician to the skilled chef and the attentive waitstaff, each person displayed a passion for their craft. It was clear that everyone was committed to providing a memorable dining experience.

Traspatio embodies culinary excellence, dedication, and passion deserving the highest recognition. It left a lasting impression and served as a reminder of what is important in life. Thank you, Juan & staff, for something...
