So I'm in Tijuana, taking my mother to the dentist on a Saturday afternoon. When she was done, she was hungry and wanted to get something to eat. I checked Google Maps and found House of Ribs two blocks from where we were at. I suggested we walk there and have lunch and she agreed.
When we got there, the place was nice inside, clean and the people from the security guard to the cashier to the waiter waiter were very quick to great you and sit you down right away.
I checked out the menu, hoping to find my favorite... ...beef ribs. Most places that sell ribs usually only have pork baby back ribs which I'm not to crazy about but I will eat them. Much to my surprise they did have beef ribs. I went ahead and ordered a half order of beef ribs with french fries. I also ordered an cucumber/lemon agua fresca. When my agua fresca arrived, I was surprised to find that it was served in a bottle versus the kind that are made fresh. I'd had aguas from a bottle before and found that they are usually nasty tasting. To my surprise, this one was very good. I looked at the label on the bottle and realized that they are made either by the restaurant or for the restaurant as it had the restaurant's label and marking on it. It was so good, I had two of them by the time I left.
When my ribs arrived, I was happy to see that they were meaty and that they weren't drowned in BBQ sauce. Speaking of BBQ sauce, they serve two types. The first it the standard BBQ sauce that is served all over the US, a little on the hickory sweet side. They also serve a more spicy BBQ sauce. I wasn't feeling spicy that day so I ordered the standard BBQ sauce for my ribs and I wasn't disappointed. The ribs were amazing!! The sauce was perfect!! Honestly I can't say I've had better beef ribs than these. I am definitely coming back again and again to...
Read moreI ate here with my wife on April 2, 2022. It was our first time coming here. We tried the Onion Rings, Pork Ribs (50% Jack Daniels sauce and 50% BBQ sauce) and 10 boneless & 10 wings with buffalo sauce. We arrived around 8pm. The place was not busy at all. Very few people. You walk in on an old, dirty looking green carpet. The restaurant is going for the old road house style look and feel, but felt dirty. We were promptly greeted and taken to our table. The seats were not comfortable. They do not have any beer on tap, only bottles. The beer was very cold which is good. Service was ok. The food was just ok. The pork ribs, fell off the bone. The traditional BBQ sauce wasn't good. The Jack Daniels sauce was very good. The rack of ribs seemed a bit small though. The onion rings looked good, but failed to deliver any satisfaction. They tasted weird. I would not order the onion rings again. I didn't try the wings but I did try the boneless. The meat was cold, like they didn't get cooked all the way. The buffalo sauce was good. They only have ranch dipping sauce, no blue cheese. The pricing for the food seemed fair. All and all, my wife and I were a bit disappointed. This place has so much potential and perhaps back in its prime it was much better. But unless they give this place a make over, deep clean it, get higher quality meats and food, and teach their chefs how to properly prepare the food so that it is cooked all the way and hot, we probably wont be going back...
Read moreI just bought 2 samplers (to go). Its our first time eating from here. Its Christmas eve 2021. I had thought it was to be picked up at 4pm they said it was scheduled for 6pm, but they said if we wait 20 minutes they could have our food ready so we don't have to come back (I thought that was very nice). So we waited.... when they came with our 2 big party trays I was expecting it to be hot, it wasn't. When we got home like 10 minutes later I tasted It right away, the mozzarella sticks where more cold and the cheese was solid. The mac n cheese was cold too and the part that didn't have warm cheese scooped on top of it was dry looking like if they covered dry cold mac n cheese with warm sauce. To make it worse it was tasteless. The ribs had no taste. The fries where okay. First and last time we are eating here. Their ranch seems to be homemade (its missing dill), but its still good. Their carrots are...
