We were really happy here. We stayed for a week and the room was quite nice. I don't think the picture really does it justice. I don't know if that is just the difference in spending dollars in Tijuana, but it was much nicer than anywhere I had stayed the U.S. for similar rates. The free breakfast is actually hot, (not a box of donuts or bagels and coffee), and pretty good. Some days it is a buffet-style, with fruit, cereal, pancakes, refried beans, eggs and ham, and chilaquiles.
All of the staff are friendly (even if you misunderstand them and ask for two coffees and then return them, whoops). I spoke to them in Spanish, so I don't know how their English is, but probably they manage. Typical services that you would expect in a hotel (clean towels, toiletries, a bottle of water daily, they make your bed, even a safe in the closet (although we ended up not even using it)). They have a television in the bedroom with channels in English and Spanish.
I also like the location, because it is decently central to where the buses pass to go to the different parts of the city (at least the parts that I was familiar with). Or, if you aren't familiar with it, tons of taxis pass in front of the hotel.
My biggest concerns, having lived in Tijuana previously, were the security in the hotel and bugs (cockroaches, bed bugs). I don't think I even saw a single bug in the hotel (it was winter) anywhere. As for security, I think that the hotel has a gate that closes over the parking lot later at night, but I am not sure, as we returned pretty early most days, to avoid being out in the dark. I think you can come in through reception though. I'm sure that it wouldn't be a problem.
I would probably stay there again if I go back to...
Read moreThis hotel is a bit difficult to rate, overall I'd say it's a good value (on the weekend) for the location.. during weekdays better and cheaper places are available close by if you drive.
It's NOT a 3 star hotel, (if that matters to you). Your experience with this place will very base on which room you get, some of them are comparable to an older Motel 6 standard, some of them are close to what you'll find at Best Western, some rooms are newer and cleaner and some rooms are older and needs work.
There is a restaurant onsite, I never had a chance to try it, breakfast is not included but the restaurant does serve breakfast.
Parking is available in the courtyard and under ground level.
Elevator? Yes, but maximum 1 person!
Don't book this place from the "travel websites", you can do better in person!
3 stars for the hotel, plus 1 star for...
Read moreThis is a good affordable Hotel option, staff are friendly, time are clean but the day I was checking out I needed to print a copy of my passport photo page and while the business center doesn't have a printer the front desk does. I asked the clerk if he could print or copy it for me and he wouldn't saying that's not a service the hotel offers.
Really was a little weird after staying on site for a week, would have rated higher otherwise. Even if it's not a standard offered service I don't think asking for a single black and white page to be printed was an...
