I visited this restaurant over a month ago with a group of 4. We walked in two hours before the restaurant closes. I had high hopes because of the great things I heard from friends and the reviews I read online; however, I regret going there. First, they offered us a few cuts only; we had to ask for specific cuts. Second, The meat quality was mediocre. The desserts were disappointing. Third, the parking lot next to Mr. Pampas "closes" at 11:00 p.m. We left the restaurant around 11:45. The parking lot employee said we could no longer leave with our car. He said we would have to come back and get the car tomorrow morning. He noticed we were tourists, and he clearly wanted some extra cash. We were supposed to pay $3 only. We kept asking him nicely to let us out and how we were visiting from the US. After 20 minutes of preventing us from leaving, we asked a local man who had just parked his car in the parking lot to help us get out. After 5 minutes of the two talking, the parking lot employee asked for $14. We are never going back there or recommending this restaurant. It is NOT worth crossing the border. I suggest you save time and money and visit a local steakhouse like Rei do Gado if you want high-quality meat cuts. The only positive thing I can say about the restaurant is the...
Read moreI went to eat today in the evening with my husband and I was excited to try this place out since I've heard good things about it. I'm not really a meat person so I wasn't too crazy about the different types of meats that the servers brought to our table and I don't know about Brazilian food so it's always good to try new places. The strawberry drink was amazing and delicious even though it was pricey (300 pesos for the jar) but I'm crazy about drinking good drinks so I didn't mind. The reason I give 2 stars is because when I went to the salad bar, there was a fly on the fruit. It was disgusting. Flies are very unsanitary and I expected better from an establishment like Pampas with good reviews. I even told a young lady who was standing there handing out gloves and plates about the fly I saw and she didn't even seem to care. I hope that the managers of Pampas read my review and keep up with the sanitation of the restaurant because it's just a turn off to go serve yourself from the salad bar and see a fly right there. I won't even go in to details about the bathroom but they also need to keep up with the cleaning of the ladies bathroom. Would I give Pampas another chance? Sure, why not? But I think I would try a different location and hopefully there are no flies at the...
Read moreThis place is legit. Buffet style restaurant that offers an exceedingly broad range of choices of meat cuts, among other featured items to munch on. What's remarkable is that the staff will walk around through the tables, carrying different meats on skewers, as if they were parading them around. Which ever pieces you want, you get. They just chop a chunk right on to your plate. In fact, next time I'm there, I'd probably skip most of the other buffet food items and stick to munching on the parade of meats, Beauty-and-the-Beast-"Be-Our-Guest" style. The desserts were good, but that's where they get you. They're kind of pricey; probably worth it. There are some vegetarian options, but I would never call this place vegetarian or vegan friendly. Not that it's hostile. Also, they could stand to tone down the music they have playing, and I mean the pop music videos they have playing on some TV screens that they have hanging around. It's as if they were trying to imitate a lively bar or club scene, which makes it feel like they're trying to cramp too identities into one establishment. They have some live musicians walking around the tables (so it really is like a meat and marching band parade!), mariachis and the ilk. They're totally legit too. 5/7 would definitely go back...
