Read moreI actually enjoy this place a lot the mariachis, trios, and norteño bands are always there making your dinning experience great! They do charge a bit expensive for the each song $10 us dollars a pop the total racks up with that said I've seen people pay them up to $400 to have them play their favorite songs. The FOOD has a good quality to it and a delicious flavor. I did however three star it became this last time we visited our experience turned. I'll explain usually it's just my wife and I we both have a blast and order our drinks and food and everything is on point. However, this was the first time we brought some friends along we where a total of 5 individuals foodies at heart. We ordered our drinks the waiter took long, the drinks finally came and the bottles weren't cold (strike one). Then our food arrived it was less than warm rather on the cooler side (strike two). Even the frijoles had that thin film that forms atop when they been our for a bit and start to cool. I always order the Mexican Combo which includes steak, quesadilla, chile relleno, enchilada, grilled nopal (cactus) leaf, guacamole, a grilled chile jalapeño it's a very good portioned dish. My wife had the breaded shrimp, friends had the shrimp stuffed chicken plate and the sampler with lobster, shrimp, and fish. The girls didn't finish all there food, hence. They asked for a box to take the leftovers with them also a bag the waiter took almost 30 min. to brings them and only after asking few times (strike three). When you visit if you so decide to dine here parking at the restaurant is free and afterwards you can walk the area and visit the shops you'll save a few dollars on parking and still enjoy the peace of mind of having a guard to keep your car safe. Have fun, stay safe and avoid drama. Remember emergency services in Mexico aren't as fast and dont count on the resources as they are and do in the US. Be mindful pull over for emergency response vehicles people lives are...
Read moreEveryone talks about Villa Ortegas restaurant when it comes to Puerto Nuevo. I gave it a try. Was impressed with the establishment in whole. Valet and private parking.
The entrance well decorated accordingly, but right before you walk indoors you see a sign that’s states “Sorry we don’t accept debit and credit cards” Big turn down but fortunately for me a local friend had plenty of PESOS. I was greeted by a cashier and about 4 hosts. They offered the terrace and it was just the perfect scenario.
They serve you these little warm buns filled with cream cheese and jalapeño and they are delicious. I had the “Camaron Aguachile” and it is to die for, highly recommend it to everyone who loves spicy food. Of course, I had to try their puerto nuevo style lobster so I ordered a medium size. It was good but if I return it’ll be for the aguachile.
Live music everywhere makes this experience unforgettable. it gets very crowded in the weekend so you gotta be careful when walking towards the restroom, you gotta stay out of the waiters way, because some don’t wait for you to pass, you have to wait and stay out of their way. Again, some waiters just don’t yield.
Next I ordered desserts, a chocolate cake and ice cream for the kids. The cake slice was well presented, looks delightful on the plate. The muses was really good the the cake part was kind of hard.
Restrooms are clean, I feel sorry for the ladies, I saw a long wait line for them.
Please give Villa Ortegas a try, you won’t regret it.
P.S This is a positive review, the star rating is a wake up call for the administrative society. You’re known for lobster and attract outside people, you’ve become a landmark for tourists, we want to use our credit cards when spending hundreds...
