Sol Naciente — Restaurant in Cancún

I arrived in Cancun late and didn’t have many food options nearby (walking distance from my Airbnb). I was really appreciative they stayed open because I could tell they were about to shut down before I arrived. However, the chips were stale and my fried fish was definitely frozen (disappointing since they’re literally located on the ocean where other restaurants fish their daily for their fish).

The prices seemed normal but when I was leaving they were very persistent about wanting a big tip and it made me feel used!

This place has so much potential but needs either new management or new customer friendly policies (using fresh ingredients, being consistent on prices, having a restroom etc). I believe the owners are either burnt out or not around. Would be nice to see them put some TLC into their...

Don't go here. Plenty of other options nearby. This place appears to specialize in ripping off their customers. The menu lacks alot of prices so they can make it up. We luckily asked prices for most things before ordering them, but for the kids sodas we did not ask and they charged 40 pesos per soda. The kids chicken cost more than the fish fillet on the menu. The waiter was a jerk and seemed determined to rob us one way or another. Some of the prices he told us before we ordered he then changed on the bill to be more and he acted angry when we showed him. Make sure you double check the prices before you eat !!! We were told that the menus were not available anymore at 7pm so the 4 of us ended up having grilled red snapper and drinks for supper. When we got the check we almost choked up the supper !!!! It was the equivalent of CAD$300.00 !!!! We asked to see the manager but of course he was not available.
