The atmosphere of this restaurant was brilliant. The light was pleasant and low but not too dark to read the menu or see each other. There was a beautiful view of the ocean as well. The furniture was tasteful and elegant.
Also, the service was exceptional. Everyone we met was inviting and gracious.
I ordered the Chilean Seabass and asked them to cook it well done.
As we waited they brought the wine and bread.
The wine was excellent!
The bread was also nice. It was a small assortment of breads and included the sauces. The sauces were also pretty good but the jalapeno and habanero sauces we not spicey at all.
Then the entrees arrived. The lobster pasta was on point and delicious.
My Seabass arrived practically raw. You could see that was not cooked throughly but I tried a bite just to make sure.
There was a thin layer of cooked fish on then outside, but the inside was slimy with a fishy liquid seeping out.
The texture and taste were both not pleasant.
I asked them to cook it a bit more. The server was gracious and took the fish away.
However, he did leave the mashed potatoes on the table.
About 15 minutes later the fish came back out. It appeared a little darker on the outside but the fish was still slimy and had this odd fishy liquid. I tried another bite, but could not eat any more.
I decided to eat the cold mashed potatoes. They were ok, but not too good.
Since I did not eat the fish, the sever asked how it was. I told him that is was not too good and was still undercooked.
He did not come back to the table for awhile and asked it I wanted to take it home. I told him I did not.
I was just going to pay for it and not make anbig deal.
However it was a $40 piece of fish and I was not happy with it. In fact I felt a bit sick.
Soon I began to think about it a bit more. The server did not bring out hot mashed potatoes when he brought my fish back out.
He did not offer to cook the fish more or offer to bring me another type of fish.
He did not even offer to comp a dessert.
He knew that I did not eat the fish and was not happy and did nothing to attempt to make it right.
He soon brought the bill and nothing was adjusted. The $40 piece of fish was still there.
I was a bit disappointed that no attempt was make to better the situation so I asked them what they could do.
The waiter returned and politely told me there was nothing he could do.
I paid the bill and decided to share my experience.
It is a beautiful restaurant, the servers are polite and kind, but they made not attempt to give me value for the money I paid and I had to go somewhere else to eat.
The pasta was fantastic...
Read moreWe rang this restaurant to make a reservation. We asked if we could be seated on the balcony (as we had seen in the photo's on Yelp). The man said that because we had two children (9 & 10) dining with us, we could not be seated on the balcony because it is the smoking area. So we booked a table inside. When we got to the restaurant we announced ourselves and were greeted by a very annoyed looked maitre d that snapped at us "Have you made a reservation?" - which we had. It took him a while to find our booking and then asked a waiter to take us to our table. When we got to our table we noticed that there were no people smoking on the balcony and there was not a single ashtray on any table. We mentioned this to our waiter and asked if we could sit on the balcony. He said "NO Children on balcony". Another family with an order child also asked the same thing - and then got up and left - We should have also left at that point. I ordered white wine - Sav Blanc (Shudder it was awful - acid as hell - the only white wine choice was house Sav Blanc or Chardonnay) and there were white chunks in it. I said to the waiter "Excuse me, but there are white chucks in the wine" and pointed to them. He said "Do you want another glass?" UM YOU THINK???? The wine was terrible so I didn't drink it. I ordered the Carpaccio which was completely drowned is a soy sauce. I then had the Lobster Bisque - it was ordinary (tasted like it was overcooked as it wasn't the sweet taste of lobster but rather bitter and the bits of lobster were few and far between which was good because it had a texture of tough leather. There was no kids menu so my daughter had a Clam Chowder which was really salty so she left it. My other daughter had a baked potato. My husband had the rib eye steak which was great and he ordered a side of veggies (MASSIVE for 2-3 people) and the Souffle Potatoes which were great. We felt like we were being rushed. We were surrounded by waiters that were literally hanging around to take things as finished. Once we had finished eating and before they had even cleared the plates our waiter bought us the check. Overall it is a pricey restaurant for very ordinary food! There are MANY great options in Cancun that you don't have to lower yourself to this standard. Seriously a B-Grade Restaurant and DEFINITELY NOT...
Read moreWe visited Puerto Madero for one of our last dinners in Cancun. We celebrated our wedding anniversary.
We were greeted by the hostess and servers with kindness and warmth. We requested a table on the patio overlooking the lagoon views. As all the tables were for larger parties, the hostess and server rearranged a table and prepared an intimate table for two overlooking the lagoon. We enjoyed fabulous views of the water, marina and Cancun.
Our server, Alex, was a true host and made our dinner truly enjoyable. Alex introduced us to ‘Queen Clam’ - Almeja Reina The ‘Queen Clam’ is served raw and is a true delicacy. My husband ordered the eggplant lasagna and I ordered the seafood spaghetti. Both pasta entrees were delicious and outstanding. Alex served us a ‘house flan’ as a complimentary dessert to celebrate our anniversary. The flan was delicious.
If we could give Alex and the team a 10 out of 5, we would! Puerto Madero’s food, service and hospitality is outstanding! Thank you for a memorable and enjoyable evening. We look forward to our next dinner!

We could not resist a 2nd and last visit for our last evening in Cancun. We sat in our favorite table overlooking the sunset lagoon and Cancun views.
We had the pleasure of having Alex serve us again which made the evening and dinner even more memorable.
Puerto Madero’s ‘Chocolate Clams’ were delicious! We loved it and will always return for this special dish. The Chocolate Clams were served ceviche style. The clams were so fresh that the clam meat moved when we squeezed lime on the shell. Chocolate Clams are worth taking a trip to Cancun and Puerto Madero.
We enjoyed the ‘Flank Steak’, prepared and served with Tortillas, as Alex recommended. This is our ‘new favourite entree’. Delicious and flavourful!
Our final night in Cancun was memorable with a romantic sunset dinner, with fabulous food and Alex’s excellent service and recommendations.
We look forward to our next visit to Cancun and...
