We've been coming here for years. It's usually one of the first restaurants we eat at after arriving in Cancun. Atmosphere is always fantastic. Food was always good. Never had any issues until now. We first visited Mextreme on Thursday evening, June 20th, for dinner. I ordered the pork carnitas. My husband ordered tacos. I didn't finish mine so we got a to go box that I ate the next morning. That evening, my stomach started cramping really bad. It continued to get worse and worse over the next two days, followed by diarrhea. We couldn't figure out what caused it. We had eaten at another restaurant for lunch that same day so we didn't know where I got sick from. We ended up back at Mextreme again last night for dinner. Our flight home was today so we ordered the same thing we ate for dinner to go as well. I ordered fajitas this time. He again ordered pork tacos. Not even 2 hours after getting back to our airbnb, he had gas followed by diarrhea all night and this morning. We knew at that moment Mextreme is what made me sick the prior week. We hadn't eaten out anywhere else yesterday because we had to pick up the keys to our new home in Cancun. We were there 4 hours so didn't have time to stop for lunch. We ended up sharing my fajitas before leaving for the airport this morning and threw his tacos away. This is a warning for those of you considering visiting here. Something has changed and not in a good way. As much as we love this place, we will not be back. There are other recent reviews about people getting sick after eating here. Something needs to be done to address this. The cramps I had were horrible. I spent an entire day in bed trying to sleep away the cramps. It was worse than gas pains after a hysterectomy. I started an antibiotic not knowing if I had a parasite or something else. Luckily I got better and my husband is now feeling better, but it might not be the case for...

Read morewhile crossing the pavement, their staffs stop you and ask you to have dined in their restaurant. its the thing in all tourist place. Cancun is no exception. In fact in all hotel zone, restaurant staff- tour staff will bother you with their leaflet and menus.
coming to Mextreme, their waitress was helping us with the menu outside the restaurant and then they ll flip the big menu board to the English side. this is their cute little trick. it was 5 PM but still, we went for it. they have big space outside the restaurant. we sat over there. they serve nachos and sauce in a cute little cone.
the waiter asked our drink and entree. we ordered their Mayan soup (Sopa Maya), Grand molcajete and chicken fajitas ( Fajitas de Pollo), and of course cocktails all Mexican restaurant serves their main items with tortillas (bucket of small tortillas) and sauce (green-salsa). you make taco and eat. it's the Mexican thing. in this case, it was fajitas
fajitas was good and so was Mayan soup. fajitas came in the sizzling tray. Mayan soup is Mexican authentic soup and you must try it. we had much better soup in the local village when we went for chichen Itza trip. Also, they don't serve water in the restaurant. I have read in blogs that one should be very careful with drinking water, but why restaurants don't serve drinking water, not sure. food was good, ambiance was good. it was dusk time, breezy weather, making it more beautiful. would...
