EL GRANERO GRILL & DRINKS — Restaurant in Cancún

STAY FAR AWAY!!! My girlfriend and I came here for dinner and drinks on a Saturday night. The atmosphere is really cool and that’s where the fun stops.

We ordered drinks and appetizers. The mango margaritas were by far the worst I’ve ever had in any country. Flavorless, and couldn’t even taste the alcohol. We ordered ceviche and nachos for apps. The nachos were mediocre. The ceviche came out looking like a pile of mushy garbage. I took one bite and decided not to risk my health and told the waitress I didn’t like it. She then went and got “the boss” who argued with me about why I didn’t want it. He then went back to the kitchen and I saw him smiling and laughing with the cooks. At that minute i knew I wasn’t eating a single thing coming out of that kitchen and told the waitress to cancel our entrees and asked for the check. The owner then came back out for another argument, then he essentially told us to leave and would not accept payment for the drinks and nachos. So I gave a tip to the waitress and left.

Avoid this garbage food at all costs. Sneaky owner who gets personally offended when you don’t eat his food. Plenty of other spots in the area with better food and without a used...

Last Thursday, June 30, my husband and I, just arriving in CANCUN, saw a 2-for-1 offer on a board at the entrance of this place. That added to the beautiful decoration made us go in for a drink to refresh ourselves from the trip. The waiter at the entrance warns us that we had to eat something obligatory to which we said OK. We sat down and asked him about the PACIFICO beer offer that was at the entrance, he told us that there was NO PACIFICO and that it started at 2 pm and that at that time it was 1:45 PM. We were an hour ahead on our watches. We apologize and ask what beers are cold, the waiter says everything is cold but first they have to order food. This was the drop that spilled the camel's back. The waiter was very rude and was also our first contact arriving in Cancun where we had been told that the people were friendly and helpful. In addition, the place barely had 2 tables with customers, so it wasn't a question that there was no space, nor that we were teenagers who were just going to bother him. In short, it's a pity that a single person can damage your first impression of a place as touristic...

First time in Cancun and we were already devastated about all the tour scams, timeshare trap, etc for the first 3 days. My Husband and I thought our trip was just going to be a huge disappointment and we were so bummed because we were gonna stay for 9 nights. Until our last night, husband’s birthday, a very friendly guy in the street invited us to this restaurant. I saw that they had hookah and it looked pretty chill which we prefer so we thought we’ll give it a try! I mentioned in the beginning that it was my husband’s birthday. ERNESTO and his friends brought a cake with a candle and they all sang to him so joyfully. Ernesto, if this reaches u and I hope it does, you made my husband and I so happy that night. Thank you for being so kind to us. You were amazing and your guys’ energy was great. We swore we would never go back to Cancun because of some touristy traps we fell into but because of you, that had seem to change. I hope we will see u again. 💖
