La Hoguera — Restaurant in Ensenada

We went there on a Wednesday afternoon. We were the only guests in the entire restaurant. They could not care less. It took forever for someone even come to our table. In the end our lunch took over 1 hour. We are not high maintenance but if you have only 1 guest you would think someone finds the time to serve.

The chile dish my wife ordered was horrible. It was made with condensed milk and must have been the sweetest sauce I have ever tasted. It tasted like a desert with too much sugar. My wife is Mexican but she could not eat it. When we told them that this is not what you would expect from a chile relleno they once again could not care less. This is just the way they make it we were told.

Delicious food, hand made tortillas, salsa made table side, large portions, good cocktails. This is one of the best restaurants i have been to in ensenada, if not the best. If you like good cuts of meat, come here. We already have plans to return and will be bringing the whole family. I had the lechon, and it was juicy and full of flavor. Rib eye chicharrón was also just as good. Salsa made the way you want, table side was amazing, it does not get any fresher then this. The only bad thing I have to say is I ordered a lemonade and it was tiny. A small cup, half ice, just way to small. They need bigger cups, i had to order multiple lemonades which sucks having to keep waving down a waiter every time I want a drink. They just need to offer...

Great atmosphere, very dramatic setting especially in the winter. And food that’s traditional Mexican cuisine ;) It does not get better than this no matter what. Inside or outside it’s an excellent choice. The cuisine is authentic and no words can describe the flavor you’ll experience. Saw NO tourists, ALL tourists should stay away, learn a few things about Baja and one day you can try it ;) This is the Illuminati 😂 of one of the highest order of Mexican cuisine.
