MATILDA — Restaurant in Ensenada

Mathilda is an awesome restaurant with a great vibe, food, and cocktails. I love that they have significantly different areas to eat. There are a couple of "al fresco" tables out front, seating in the bar area which has a great feel, and a hidden area down a hallway in the back that's quaint and quiet. The food is delicious and the service is wonderful. There's always someone there who speaks English, and are happy to do so. A recommendation from our hotel front desk, and a great one at that! Cocktails were fun, modern twists on traditional Mexican beverages. My favorite was a carajillo that they make with a smidge of mezcal. Mi novio had a negroni that he enjoyed. Our server was thorough; he took his time and shared details of our courses and drinks. The tapas dish was delicious...

This is a tiny place. The server was fantastic. Definitely a relief he spoke English.

The drinks were tasty- but not very strong. 3 drinks in id expect a buzz but didnt really get one.

The sampler platter was good but definitely had a disproportionate amount of cheese to bread.
