After making a prepaid reservation for 2 people for 2000 MXP each and reading the reviews, we were very excited to have an 11 course dinner here on Christmas Eve. Unfortunately the whole experience was disappointing. The whole thing was supposed to start at 5pm, but since something had gone wrong during the preparation the start was moved to 7pm. This wasn't a big deal if not for the fact that the whole ordeal was going to take 3.5 hours. There were only 15 guests but every course took forever to get ready, plus the fact that 4 guests showed up a lot later and the staff was catching them up before serving new courses. Everything is cooked fresh, which we appreciate, but about 5 out of the 11 dishes were off the grill that smoked up the restaurant and us for a good while. After some of the guests complained that it was taking too long the waitress asked if we wanted some free drinks, which we declined because to be honest, the cocktails weren't that impressive. The food was ok, but not stellar, especially not for a 2000 MXP meal, with one dish, some octopus in a clam shell, being plain disgusting. Most guests sent theirs back unfinished, so we weren't the only ones not liking the dish. A lot of the reviews show way more creative dishes than the ones we got. Finally after 3.5 hours the meal was done and we asked for the check. Since we were very disappointed, we asked if they would comp our drinks, a cocktail, a beer and two mocktails, which they did. Unfortunately the manager didn't even apologize for the underwhelming experience but only told us he was ok with comping the drinks. On top of that, the waitress told us that we only had to pay the 15% gratuity that wasn't included in the prepaid amount. We didn't want to make a scene, so we paid, but after the waitress shorting us 100 pesos, we realized that the gratuity was calculated over the amount including drinks. Again, we didn't want to make a scene, but to be fair, they could have handled this a lot better.
We really think the whole thing was unfortunate, since two nights before we had an amazing experience upstairs (same management) when having a few drinks and we were so excited to...
Read moreThe most incredible amazing sushi and a must in Holbox. My wife and I have had sushi across the US and outside it, and this sushi is truly incredible. The artistry is incredible and it tastes even better. Everything is so incredibly fresh, with the tuna flown in. Luvan, the master chef, puts such thought into each set of rolls and again it tastes even better than it looks. It tastes truly perfect. The fish is smooth and thick, the flavor profile is perfect and amazing in your mouth with each bite. Truly testament to perfecting craft by Luvan. The service from Fidel and others is on another level and the best on the island and in general. Treats you to highest level possible with everything done to such perfection in service. So attentive, thoughtful, elegant, friendly, and incredibly kind. He did everything as perfect as possible to make it a truly 5 star experience. The ambiance is beautiful with a Japanese style with a beautiful, tropical take. The music is beautiful jazz but with a funky take including disco songs in jazz form. If you are coming to Holbox, it is an absolute must and you will be as blown away as my wife and I. Truly a perfect 5 star experience in every possible...
Read moreBy far the best sushi in Holbox and one of the best restaurants on the island! We had a larger party and initially had to split up. However, our waiter was extremely accommodating and immediately put us together once a table opened up. He was extremely knowledgeable and helpful and made our experience wonderful. The atmosphere was fantastic and the music was phenomenal. Anyone saying they didn’t get “enough food for the price” is out of their mind because I left stuffed for around 70 dollars (130 dollars for my wife and I before tip). Others at our table spent quite a bit less than that and were stuffed. That’s nothing for a nice night out and sushi experience. Anyone also saying that they were upset that they “got charged for water” must have only ate out at one restaurant, because that happens everywhere. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and were talking about it for the rest of the trip. Do yourself a favor and go and give...
