The restaurant/ beach club has excellent interior and craft decoration. And we seem to like it a lot. It started to rain heavily, and all clients flocked under palapa roofs. In addition to multiple beers and full dinner plates, we ordered a bottle of sparkling wine and deserts in order to wait over the pouring rain. The total bill came almost to 5000 pesos from 1 table. Would you think the waiters appreciated it?? No, they wanted to take advantage of us in the hope that we are too drunk and cold and we wouldn't care. The bill came wrong with calculations, and the waiters did it again, adding 15% tip, which is illegal. One of us wanted to pay his share by credit card, and the waiters insisted on adding 5% surcharge, which is illegal. When we pointed out the things that are illegal, as per Profeco, the serving staff decided to take revenge on us. When we asked to call a taxi (just human compassion in heavy rain conditions), they said : "we don't have this service." I suggest you stay away from this place. No matter how much you consume and how much is their tip, they don't care about customers. And want to rip off as much as possible. For our team, this experience created No No No not only for this beach club, but for Holbox in general. People there are not honest and...
Read moreAs a solo female traveller I had a horrible experience here. I had taken one of the sunbeds aware I had to pay a minimum spend. However one of the staff came over and completely embarrassed me and made me feel unwelcome. In front of everyone at the club he told me "if you are in your own you must go to the back and use a different bed, the sunbeds in the front two rows are for couples". It's already a challenge travelling alone so public humiliation of being sent to the back, where there are no sunbeds aside from regular seating, and to sit by the toilet out of sight was awful. He then told me I could stay if I paid for a second bed - so basically I had to pay double than everyone else even though the club was more than busy enough to rent the second bed out to another solo traveller or larger group. To make matters worse, some tourists assumed I was selfishly using a second bed without a requirement - not understanding the club has forced me to pay/take it - and as they were leaving started hurling abuse and insults at me. Shame on you if you read this for making an already uncomfortable experience even worse. I left in the end very upset. So overall, a humiliating and uncomfortable experience for a woman travelling alone....
Read moreThis was such a great place! We were skeptical about beach clubs and food, but we gave it a try based on the reviews. We rented the palapas for the afternoon (min spend 600 pesos per person which includes use of the sunbeds). We had a bunch of mango, pineapple and maracuya waters- those were really refreshing in the heat.
For the first dish, we started with green aguachile which was amazing! The tangy flavours, the blend- everything was just top notch! We took a break, spent some time in water and then ordered tuna tartare which was also amazing. The food was pretty filling for us. And we were able to stay from 1pm to almost 8pm there- watching the sunset and just chilling. We took the octopus with asparagus as the last dish during the sunset. The marinade on the octopus was just so good! I would recommend all these 3 dishes highly😍
After this, we were so full that we basically skipped dinner. We spent around 1400 pesos for all...
