Where to start? We just decided to pop in for a drink and a snack. They advertise as a “natural wine bar”, but have no natural wine? Indeed the drinks menu pages are stapled together. They offered the 1 white wine they do have and we liked it so decided to stay. This place is so disappointing as they clearly know they could do/be better but choose not to. The food is awfully presented - and I mean awful - just dolloped on a plate with no care. It was edible but unenjoyable. Well begrudgingly ate. The aguachile was poor quality shrimp covered in red sauce with little flavour aside from the spice. The beetroot was again just ingredients carelessly slap-dashed into a bowl. For 2 small cold dishes, it took about an hour to arrive. From the decor to the graphics and the music they are clearly trying to be “cool” but it falls flat as cheesy and disappointing. All idea and no execution. The music felt grating to the atmosphere. I can see why people end up here and may even enjoy, but if you appreciate actually well crafted and cared for dishes, and want to actually enjoy your experience in a bar/restaurant, then do not go here. It is also very expensive - bordering on New York/London prices - which is fine if the quality actually stood up. But here you will leave feeling shafted. It will be a complete waste of your time and money, when there are plenty of other places in Holbox who deserve it and who offer the same “vibe” but actually...
Read moreWaited way too long for a small and over priced meal.
Their super pricey mac&cheese was surprisingly average in flavor even for home cooking standard. we saw it was expensive and expected to have out minds blown, but no, its just expensive because why not?
Their sparkling lemon juice costs double what it costs in any other place in the island (they insisted in calling it soda so maybe it's the fancy wording tax, they corrected us each time).
The picaña was small and we felt hungry after, and this was a main course.
The steak tartare felt a little deceiving, since it lists all these elements that could have been some sort of side dish but turned out to be ingredients of the tartar mix itself- who spreads a menu like that? it's like writing "this pizza contains flour, salt, water, tomatoes, oregano..." it felt like an attempt to enlarge the description of something ultimately basic yet again, overpriced...
Read moreMixologist clearly good at his game but ratios are bad; v sweet drinks, low alcohol content. Food was just a miss across the board; Mac and cheese smashed with a load of Parmesan on top not to taste, making it very rich. Fried chicken was soft and taste was v v overpowering. Crab sandwich lacked all seasoning; couldn’t taste the chives, rocket or bell pepper at all and it was dry. Lots of shell in it. Did give the feedback respectfully to the waiter as so much was left but it wasn’t understood; which is fair enough but this is a tourist trap through and through. Interior and music is cool, staff were v friendly. The core product, food and drink needs the attention the location and...
