Loncheria Doña Mari — Restaurant in Isla Mujeres

It is simply amazing to me that food this good and this well prepared can be had this inexpensively anywhere on the planet. They were out of several items (buying fresh and in season is part of the trick) and no o e there spoke English.

My Spanish isn't great, but you'll recognize most of the meats and preparations on the written menu, but just nod yes if a substitution is recommended.

We stopped for dinner and were suprised by such a delicious Yucatan's cusine and really friendly, smiling family who runs this simple but amazing place. I tried for the first time Tlayudas Pollo and it was delicious. Together with spicy sauce on the side you should try Horchata drink which they make themselves. I really enjoy our dinner here in such a nice atmosphere made by this lovely Mexican family. Plus we paid 206pesos for two meals...

The food was the most authentic, real, fresh mexican food ever. It was at a low price point for something that good. The people were really nice and respectful, humble and reserved to the point in which they did not ask for tips or harrass us for limited adition things. I come to mexico every year and each time i have stopped by Doña Mari at least twice!! I left the restaurant with my family full, amd super satisfied. Five stars a...
