The sushi here is very good and the best in the island. We always come here when we visit Isla. Service and sushi are the best.
However, next time we come here if the restaurant doesn't have drinking water we are dropping a few stars. Here is our recommendations if this happens again.
A. Ask the restaurant next door for a couple bottles of water. Even offer to buy it from them. B. Run over to Chedraui and buy water. C. Run over to the little store one block away and buy water. D. Pay a taxi cab for options b or c (see above).
And absolutely the last option....which is option z is to tell customers we are out of drinking water on a 200 Usd dinner. If this occurs offer the customer a free drink on the house.
We really hope the owners read the above review and plan on which option to execute next time not enough planning occurs for drinking...
Read moreFirstly, sushi is my favorite food. I travel around the world and have been to a lot of sushi restaurants and Tomodachi might just be my new favorite. The sushi here is absolutely incredible! The tiny details, thought, and attention that went into each bite was really extraordinary. This restaurant is my new favorite on the island, along side Fuego de Mar.
My one complaint is that the restaurant is cash only. I am 100% ok with a cash only restaurant when I spend under $20/person, but when you charge more, that is a LOT of pesos to be carrying around, we had to make an ATM run during our dinner so we could order more, which yes was worth it, but should not have to happen and did put a negative spin on an otherwise 100% perfect evening.
This is by far one of the best restaurants on the island and I will be back soon! But please start...
Read moreWe really liked Limon and we're expecting this to be good after a great conversation with Sergio, the owner at Limon and found that he was very serious about sushi and he bragged on his purveyor and had lovely photos of his fish.
It still really exceeded all expectations - lovely space and fine staff. But very, very good sushi and I'm spoiled enough from Japanese friends knowledge snd excellent fish in Atlanta and rarely eat sushi when travelling unless it's high end, like Morimoto in Philly.
Only a couple items touch on Mexican ingredients - it is very traditional and does it very well, though sourcing and availability must be very difficult. Which makes the very reasonable prices for sushi of this quality all the more remarkable. Planning on going back soon to try more and will update my review with more details of...
