I'm not sure what happened between last year and now but the food has gone downhill. I was quite surprised when I saw other guests that had arrived after me receive their complimentary bruschetta/bread basket and main entrees ahead of me. I waited a while longer until it was quite evident that it was not coming. Eventually I asked for the complimentary basket with soft bread only since I cannot chew hard food. It came with hard bread anyway. I ordered spaghetti and meatball at the same time since I was starving.. plus it's a dish I've ordered several times in the past and thoroughly enjoyed. It finally arrived and was set before me. I thought it looked a bit creamy but didn't think much of it. I took a bite. The sauce was tomato basil soup which I've had several times before as well! Needless to say that I was quite disappointed. If I wanted tomato basil soup I would've ordered it. I asked the server about it and he stated that it was indeed pomodoro sauce. I'm a low-key type of diner and not one to belabor a point. So.. I ate half the dish, paid the 190 pesos plus tip, and left. I'm sorry to report that will not be...
Read moreTake out from Alex's is one of our go to meals when I don't feel like cooking. The lasagna is amazing and every pasta and sauce combination I've has was delicious. There's a little irregularity in the type of bread sent with the meals, sometimes it's bruschetta-like and Italian bread, sometimes just the bread. They always pack a good amount of shredded parmesan cheese. The service is quick, too. We had a wonderful experience when we ate at the restaurant in January. Great service, good spacing of guests, and terrific food. I can't really tell you what my companions had because I was focused on the best mussels I've ever eaten! Both the tiramisu and the cannoli were great. I'm not a big cannoli fan, but I really enjoyed theirs. Outside crisp and not burnt, inside cool and creamy with flavors I couldn't identify. But yum! The menu posted online is not everything they offer. I don't know if this is because that menu is all they will do for takeout. Something to find out for sure! The incomplete online menu is the only reason why I gave them 4...
Read moreAfter reading the reviews, we were excited to try this venue. I found it odd that an Italian restaurant didn't offer any Italian wine. The oil on the table is some heavily refined cheap oil that was almost orange in colour and was putrid. A quality restaurant should offer olive oil. The mussels in the white wine reduction was the highlight of our meal. The main course came before we were finished the muscles. The lasagna was mediocre at best, requiring more layers of pasta and a layer of ricotta would have been a nice touch. The biggest disappointment was the spinach and ricotta ravioli. A decent portion and reasonable price, but almost void of filling and flavour. We simply could not find any ricotta whatsoever, and the pomadoro sauce tasted like it came from a jar or can. We were very disappointed for an 800 peso meal, and have no desire to...
