FURTIVO — Restaurant in Jalisco

Eating at Furtivo was truly an amazing experience!

My boyfriend and I made a reservation at Furtivo, due to a friend’s recommendation.

The ambiance of the restaurant is very cozy. They have a lovely patio and cozy indoor dining area. I loved the exposed kitchen and we were able to see the Chefs and cooks prepare the food. Everything was very clean, and tidy and loved the cleanliness of the whole place. (It’s very nicely decorated as well, contemporary arts and furniture from the downstairs furniture store, which is really cute/comfortable).

Polet was an incredible hostess! She was extremely kind and attentive when it came to restaurant service, and food. The head chef explained each dish, and how to best capture each flavour of the dish. Every dish, you could see the care and time that was spent preparing.

Food itself was delicious. Each dish was so unique, but all the dishes tied incredibly well together. Some of the flavours, I had never experience before, and it was delicious! The transition of the courses were amazing and my favourite was the shrimp dish! Incredible seafood flavour and taste in my mouth.

Drinks were quite good as well, for me, personally, the drinks were on the bit of the sweet side. BUT, I like my drinks relatively strong, so this is just a personal thought. I got the passionate fruit cocktail, but I prefer the old fashion-esq drink my boyfriend got.

I highly recommend this tasting menu for people who want to try new flavours! It was a unique experience and you could really tell everyone at the restaurant really enjoyed being there and loved what they do.

What truly sets this place apart isn’t just the food or the vibe (both incredible) - it’s the soul behind it. Paullete, the owner, greeted us at the door with such warmth that I initially assumed she was the hostess. Throughout the evening, she checked in on us with genuine care and radiant energy that made the entire experience feel personal and special.

Her passion for the space is palpable, and you can feel the love she and her husband (the chef) pour into every detail. He stays behind the scenes, humble and focused, but the result speaks volumes. There’s a quiet magic in the way this place is run - a loving aura that elevates everything.

This place! New favorite in the city - a must if you want to try variety but find something for everyone. The attention to detail from the chefs, you can tell and see how proud they are in the open kitchen. The bar fallows the same idea. Had a white negroni made out of mezcal 🤌🏻

Everything we tried was full of flavor and lots of creative uses for ingredients.

And for a vegetarian to have so many regular menu items be available in a vegetarian option, really marks a thoughtful menu, not just an afterthought.

The only slight and very pesky critiques I'll give is that the Lechuga en la ensalada asada should be cut in half to roast the insides and perhaps a little more kimchi...
