I found the food to be pretty tasty but way more greasy than needed. To be fair it seems like all of the food is well liked so it could just be a difference in tastes.
If you load anything up with mayonnaise, butter and grease, it's going to get the dopamine flowing. But I'm judging this as the premium burger joint they market themselves to be.
The onion rings which seem to be one of their signature appetizers was just absolutely soaking in oil.
The batter is a pretty thick flour batter and it didn't really seem like they used that many leavening agents or any of the standard tricks to get it to feel lighter like using alcohol. I don't think it was a really nice mouth feel. Every bite just felt like I was squeezing a thick layer of engine oil in the back of my throat.
The burgers were almost perfect but again, I think the amount of fats used just smothered an otherwise great chicken sandwich. Because the chicken itself, like the onion rings, were not crispy but heavily dripping with oil. If it were paired with just the brioche and vegetables and a thinner later of sauce I swear it would've been perfect. But instead the bread was heavily buttered, and since they used a brioche, the inside was already buttered. There was a thick layer of some kind of cream sauce and then some mayonnaise on the bottom.
I believe the point of fat is to carry flavor and help with texture. It's not supposed to be a flavor.
We also ordered an item that never came but were charged for it on the bill. They were nice enough to correct it.
The coconut drink was actually one of the highlights and was...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant which was just a block from our Airbnb apartment and were pleasantly surprised. The vibe was upbeat and casual with great music. Here we are in December 2022 and this is one of the few restaurants I have been to in Mexico that still gives you hand sanitizer at the entrance. It was a nice touch to show that they are still following sanitary protocols. Anyway, back to the good stuff. We ordered the sangria to start with and loved it. It was a bit unusual in that we could taste a bit of cucumber, however it really complimented the drink. We ordered the Louie Burger and the Chicken Supreme. Both were amazing, very tasty and filling. French fries came with each burger, and they were hot and delicious. Next time I'll order the sweet potato fries because they looked amazing. This was our first meal after a long day of traveling, so we were tired and didn't order any dessert, but we did see some of the milk shakes that were delivered to neighboring tables and they looked like works of art. I can't wait to come back and sample them. I highly recommend this place when you're craving a tasty burger in Guadalajara's...
Read moreA lot of people say this is the best burger in Guadalajara and I have to agree. We visited last Thursday around 7:00 and were seated immediately. By the time we left, they were on a wait. Burgers were phenomenal! We started with the Korean Spicy Chicken, which was a little over sauced IMHO, but good nonetheless. For our entries, I had the Burger Louie and my wife had the Smokey Cow. Both were very good, I loved the Burger Louie, but the pulled pork on the Smokey Cow reminded my wife of our North Carolina home. The fries and onion rings were also very tasty. The chocolate shake was good, but we are still getting used to the dairy in Mexico which is creamier than what we are used to back in the states, so more of a personal preference than a criticism. I don’t remember our waiter’s name (maybe Jose?) but he was awesome, helping us with our Spanish but reverting to English if we were struggling. All in all, great food, wonderful service and a hip vibe. Highly...
