La Casa del Waffle — Restaurant in Jalisco

I hate to write bad reviews but our treatment here was unacceptable. We were sat quickly and then ignored for about 10 mins. Our waiter, Carlos, finally appeared and it was obvious if was not interested in doing his job. We speak a little Spanish and usually have no issue with ordering off a Spanish menu. They gave us an English menu but he did not seem to even be able to understand when we pointed at the item. Other tables received bread and drinks right after ordering. We finally received the bread and our drinks but long after we ordered. Our food also was very late in arriving and was cold. They knew if was not acceptable as the host came over and asked if the food was cold. We had been waiting over 30 mins at this point and wanted to get on with our day so we just ate it and left. Eggs and potatoes were overcooked and the waffles were bland. Carlos, our server, walked by multiple times but never acknowledged us again until we asked for the check. GREAT FOOD AT A GREAT PRICE: Looking for a relaxed atmosphere for breakfast? Look no further than La Casa del Waffle. This hip eatery is located in the Chapultepec area and is set is a large colonial home. The yard around the house has been reconditioned for seating area under large, luxuriant trees. I like the chilaquiles divorciados, which are chilaquiles with both red and green sauces and topped off with two eggs, sunny side up. One of our friends ordered the chilaquiles with shredded chicken, which was also good. My wife had the spinach omelette. Bacon wedges inside the creation pumped up the flavor. Another friend had the enfrijoladas, which are rolled, friend tortillas smothered in a bed of refried beans. If you are a coffee lover, you will be pleased with the selections. Friendly waiters whisk around to persistently offer refills. With coffee and extras, the price per person is around $200 MXN, or $10 USD. It's not my first time here, but visiting again after many years. There's a very rich variety of dishes to choose from. I think it's only for breakfast time. I tried the chilaquiles verdes and the hotcakes selva negra. All the plates are very well served, it's a large portion, so if you don't eat much you might want to share. Chilaquiles are really good, the tortilla chip is not soft and not super crunchy, just in the middle and the sauce is well balanced too. The hotcakes are really soft and are not sweet but you can taste the chocolate flavour. A good amount of strawberries accompany the three layers of hotcakes with whipped cream (crema Chantilly) that is bathed in a sweet strawberry sauce. The food took a lot of time to be served, probably 20 minutes and they didn't serve the coffee at least.
