Last night, I had the pleasure of dining at La Tosca Trattoria, and I must say, this restaurant is serving up some great Italian in Puerto Vallarta. From the moment I walked in, the impeccable service stood out. The team here truly works in harmony, ensuring every guest feels welcomed and cared for.
We started with the calamari, and it was a standout dish. It was perfectly seasoned, fresh, and so delicious that I could have easily ordered a second plate. The restaurant also provided bread, which was a nice touch to start the meal.
For our main courses, we ordered the Spaghetti a lo Scoglio, a seafood pasta that was nothing short of perfection. The flavors were vibrant and fresh, and with a squeeze of lime, the dish reached an entirely new level of deliciousness. I cleaned my plate it was that good!
The Pappardelle Funghi e Salsiccia was another highlight. The combination of earthy mushrooms and savory sausage was divine. It’s clear the kitchen takes pride in delivering authentic Italian flavors. Next time, I'm ordering this.
To end the meal, we tried the Tiramisu. While it didn’t quite reach the heights of the other dishes, it was still enjoyable and something I would order again.
The ambiance at La Tosca Trattoria is equally noteworthy. With its romantic vibe and live music, it’s an ideal spot for a date night or even a solo I'm loving on me outing.
What I appreciated most was the pacing of the meal. The wait for food was just right, neither too rushed nor too slow. This allowed us to savor each course and enjoy the evening fully.
If you’re looking for an authentic Italian dining experience in Puerto Vallarta, La Tosca Trattoria is a must-visit. Whether you're planning a romantic evening, a celebratory meal, or simply craving incredible Italian cuisine, this place delivers on all fronts.

This place was much busier than anticipated. We went because my friend had read they make their own pasta. We didn't have a reservation, but they had a table on the sidewalk which was perfect for us.
I had the lasagna and she had fettucine with clams. Everything tasted good. My lasagna was a little cool on the outside, but the inside was still nice and hot.
After we were seated, no one came to give us menus. We finally started trying to flag someone down for a menu after 10 minutes. There was a big crowd of people waiting at the entrance, and that made it impossible for the waiters to see us.
The food took unusually long. It was more than an hour after we sat down that we got our main course. While waiting, it took several tries to flag someone down to get some bread to hold us over.
Then after we ate, we just couldn't get the check. We spent more than 20 minutes just trying to pay and leave. And the couple across from us had the exact same problem. They eventually just walked in and stood in the middle of the restaurant until they were helped.
Also, super expat crowd. I've lived here before and my friend lives here. It had a cruise ship vibe where a bunch of loud English speakers just start randomly talking to other loud English speakers. We watched the guy waiting for a table overhear a conversation about a golf club at a table and then there was a super loud 10 minute conversation about golf right next to us.
This was a super busy restaurant on a Tuesday night and it just seems like they can't handle it. Unfortunately that turns a solid Italian meal experience into wishing we hadn't went.
(They did have a live musician who was excellent. It was pretty loud on the sidewalk, so I think it was probably too loud inside the restaurant, but I really did enjoy...
Read moreI'll be fair to this place. Great ambiance. Wine was great. Food was good. (My plate was mediocre, but everyone else had great food.). From the moment we sat down, the waiters were pushing us to order. I wanted to enjoy my wine and the company. They kept pushing for us to order. On top of that, the waitress spilled 3 glasses of ice cold water all over my daughter's back. Her shirt was wet the entire night. Typically a manager comes over and says. "Hey, we want to offer a dessert on the house or is there anything else we can do,?". Nothing! At the end of the night, the bill came out and nothing was offered. I asked the waiter if we get a dessert, something for the accident. This is where the attitude came in. "Well, accidents happen, there's nothing we can do". I understand accidents happen and we really didn't need a discount, but it's pretty standard that there is compensation when issues like this happen. It was the attitude we had with the guy running our card that ruined our experience. I think Roberto was his name. To add to this is the fact that we're not tourists. We live here year-round, for 18 years, and take care of these places in the summer when nobody is here. Take care of the people that take care of you when the tourists aren't here. Go out of your way to show you actually care. Poorly handled...
