I have to rave about Las Ninfas Restauant. My hubby and I were walking by last week and were invited in by Juan and his wife Lourdes to see the newly opened restaurant. He graciously invited us to sit and have a coffee and try some beans and chips. The beans were some of the most delicious I have had. After asking a bunch of questions about the menu we decided to come for dinner with a friend. We enquired about wine and my hubby mentioned that he had a favorite wine and we wrote down the name.
When we arrived Thursday night we were greeted with a handwritten welcome card. We were also informed that, although not on the menu, the wine we mentioned had been purchased just for us. We told Juan to surprise us with appetizers and mains except we wanted to try the mole chicken. Of course, we were served the complimentary beans and chip which were as wonderful as we remembered. We were served a platter of three different appetizers which consisted of Empanada de Plantano, which were plantains filled with beans and topped with cotija cheese, Panuchos, and Picaditas with cochinita. All were delicious.
The mains arrived and we dined on mole chicken which had silky mole with rice, we were also presented with Shrimp mignon which was flattened shrimp wrapped in bacon, and Picaña steak which was perfectly cooked and served with plantain and a tomato and pepper salad. Everything was lovely. I’m happy there were three of us eating as we were able to try so many different things. For dessert we all shared guava pie, the dessert is definitely made for sharing and had a subtle guava flavor. Yummy. We made reservations for next Thursday with another friend. We were also the first to see the amazing painting that was being hung above the banquette.
Gracias Juan, Lourdes and staff for a memorable evening. We wish you...
Read moreWe've been twice for brunch so far. The food has very rich and deep flavors. Don't mistake that comment as the food is spicy. Some dishes, yes, but overall just a deeply spiced flavor-profile. The cocktails and coffee are both equally good.
Love the atmosphere, and they have the most detailed and surreal painting along one side. There is indoor and outdoor garden seating with a glass wall separating the spaces so there is still plenty of light even if you choose to sit inside in the air conditioning.
The only issue that we've had, and it can be easily fixed, is that the sound level inside is way too high. They need some sound absorbing tiles on the ceiling because the sound just bounces around from the tile floor to the glass wall to the concrete ceiling and doesn't stop.
Overall a solid...
