Porfirio's Guadalajara could’ve had 5 stars but our server Javier was terrible. Made me feel unwelcome and his behavior was dismissive. After we heard his recommendations of steak and we decided not get the steaks - his tone went from glad to have us all the way down to like im wasting my time if it’s not an expensive tab. We felt uncomfortable immediately after that and we notice it wasn’t just a one off interaction because we repeatedly felt like Javier didn’t care to attend us anymore. It would be long periods of time before he checked in on us. I had to ask the manager for extra tortillas for our cochinita pibil because Javier was not coming by and it’s not like it was terribly busy that night. The managers were extremely helpful where Javier lacked. I do not like writing reviews like this but it was just a terrible feeling to be dismissed like this. At the end of our night he brought us our check. I still tipped because everyone else was helpful but only 10%. I normally do 20% but this was not it. Javier had the audacity to ask for more in tips because it “would be of help to him”. I should’ve left nothing. I repeated 10% and his mannerism and body languages were mad and unwelcoming as it was before bringing the check. If I ever go back and by some slim chance I get him as a server again. I will ask for a different server. The establishment aside from his service was great. The food was delicious but this guy ruined it for us.
Pros: The food was really Good. 10/10. 5 stars. The bartenders drinks were delicious I tipped him separately. The chef who ever he is deserves a gold medal because our food was delicious and mouth watering to just remember the taste.
1 star because the overall experience wasn’t a pleasant one because...
Read moreWe were a group of 6 from the states mainly english speakers, we came in around 9pm and asked for a seat outside. We were told it would be a 40 minute wait. Kitchen closes at 9:40 so we sat at a table next to the front door. After looking around there were over 10 empty tables in the outdoor area, we asked the hostess again if we could sit at one of those tables and was told there were none available. We reluctantly sat down, when the waiter came to greet us we asked a 3rd time and after a small wait were moved to a wonderful table outside. The waiter spoke excellent english was very patient and helpful but he would disappear for 15-20 minutes at a time. It took about 30 minutes to get drinks and we waited another 20 minutes to ask for the bill. We came on a Sunday night and could see groups of waiters congregating and talking amongst themselves. The food was incredible, I was concerned about the quality since this is a chain that comprises of low quality restaurants like Señor Frogs but everything was delicious. The grilled octopus was tender and flavorful, the arrachera was cooked perfectly, enchiladas were also very well done. Prices were reasonable for this type of restaurant & setting. Atmosphere is beautiful with the exception of the 20 big screen tvs playing music videos, it really ruins the ambiance and actually hurt my eyes. Overall we had a great casual meal and felt it was a great value...
Read moreI recently visited Porfirio’s in Guadalajara with a large group of 13, and I was thoroughly impressed by how quickly and seamlessly they accommodated us. The service was top-notch—attentive, friendly, and efficient, ensuring that our experience was smooth from start to finish.
The food was exceptional across the board. The steaks were perfectly cooked, juicy, and packed with flavor. The Aguachile Mixto was a standout dish, bursting with freshness and bold flavors. For dessert, the offerings were nothing short of delectable, providing a perfect ending to the meal.
Vegetarian options were also thoughtfully crafted, ensuring everyone in our group had something delicious to enjoy. The guacamole was fresh and flavorful, the queso fundido rich and satisfying, and the poblanita pasta was a delightful surprise—creamy, mildly spicy, and wonderfully executed.
The cocktails were another highlight. Made with fresh ingredients, they were vibrant, expertly mixed, and complemented the meal beautifully.
Porfirio’s truly excels at offering a wide variety of high-quality dishes, impeccable service, and a welcoming atmosphere, making it a perfect choice for groups or anyone seeking an unforgettable dining experience in Guadalajara. Highly...
