This was my second year attending a New Years event in Guadalajara. I had a wonderful time but I was expecting more! As you walk in, we were not greeted and just asked for our name. I found that extremely ackward and rude! I saw around 5 greeters and none of them made an attempt to greet us. It was not until we had to make the first attempt to greet them and it should be the other way around. That was my first impresión I received from the restaurant. When we arrived at our table, we noticed my name was spelled incorrectly at our table and that was a huge disappointment especially because we had made reservations weeks in advance ! I would recommend the guests to write their own name and personalize it themselves. The waitress did not seem friendly and had a nonchalant look on her face, and that was disappointing. My guest had a purse and no purse stands were offered either. These are things a guest should not be asking for. Another waiter approached to us and he was super attentive and friendly. He was extremely polite and I saw him working really hard because it was extremely busy. The other female waiter just came maybe once to ask if we were ok , but still with that look, “I don’t want to be here look”. The drinks were exceptional well made. After a couple drinks, we asked for modelos and we were told they did not offer modelos and I was super disappointed to hear that! The waiter offered us Coronas instead. I had to ask for lemons and salt twice. You can’t have coronas without salt and lemons. I guess that’s my opinion, to give them the benefit of the doubt. The food stands were amazing and staffed with super friendly and knowledgeable staff in the food they were serving. They were kind and well educated! They were the highlights of the day! What took the shine from the food stands were the long lines! The lines were extremely long and people were cutting in line and people were stepping on me. Honestly, at that point I just wanted to sit down with my two tamales and rice. The food was great! As we were eating, I saw a person walking around with an icense holder conducting a ritual. I was excited to see that, but I would recommend for them to stopped the music and explain what he is doing and maybe conduct a ritual where everyone can participate so we call all begin our new year with good faith. After we finished our food and the many coronas we had. We decided to dance! The DJ was ok too. I would of appreciated a variety of different music. This is my personal opinion and I understand this is only my own opinion. The dance floor was too small and at some point this lady hit my face. I did love how how all people of different ages came together dancing. That was amazing! We eventually stopped dancing because it was too crowded and did not feel safe on that glass/ plastic dance floor. Overall, I had a wonderful time and I would return back just not on...
Read moreI've been here 2 times now, I try to visit whenever I'm in Guadalajara, but it's not as appealing after you have snaffoos with the food or service. The management needs to be more involved with their service/waiters. The front door staff, group party, and tequila store staff are wonderful; but the wait staff are ruining the ambience and experience of this restaurant. I mention this as you take steps to recover from covid-19, you focus time on staff training that delivers a wholesome experience and compliments your environment. It starts at the top, if the management doesn't care your waiters don't care and in this restaurant it shows. The first time we went for the dinner service we were so enthralled with the decor that we didn't mind the wait for the food or that we had to keep waiving our waters down. The food was good, the drinks were excellent, and my fiancee loved the decorations. The second time (earlier this year) we went for the brunch buffet. We were sat at our table with no explanation over how things work and figured it'd be fine. The 4 of us took turns going over the buffet lines for the food and let me tell you it was so delicious. As we sat down we realized there were no napkins or utensils, so I asked another waiter (in Spanish) for help when she promptly turned around saying those weren't her tables and walked away. We waited minutes for our waiter to come by and when he did only to take our drink orders we asked for the silverware. It took a few more minutes to get the silverware to start eating. At the end of our meals, quite a bit later, our drinks arrived (one lemonade, one water, 2 beers) so you're not wondering if we ordered the volcano margarita or something extravagant. My family (4 adults) was delighted at the food, however as this was their first time visiting they were left disappointed at the service. We tipped the staff at the buffet lines serving the...
Read moreExploring the neighborhood by foot and the mariachis music made me turn in to this place.
I did not expected such an aesthetically pleasing space. It is expansive with indoor, outdoor, upstairs and garden seating. And the courtyard/ garden is absolutely lovely.
From the moment you walk in, you start noticing a transformation of colors, sounds, even smells with the delicate scent of copal permeating my welcome.
I was seated on a small table for two on the lower level. I was not hungry but yes very thirsty so I ordered a soursop and mezcal drink recommended by my waiter. A server quietly took hold of my table side and started preparing fresh salsa --one of the best salsa and tastiest tortilla I have ever had.
My drink arrived on a large glass stemware and it was mind blowingly good. I practically inhaled the first one, very shortly I was ordering a second soursop drink.
In the meantime, there are mariachis singing and playing instruments constantly. There were also dancers wearing full costumes.
My one advise to management is to look over the closing the ticket (paying) part of the operation as it is so slowwwwwwww. I heard tourists behind me saying "rápido, rápido!!". I noticed they waited about 30mins to close out. The servers would frequently update them with "we are bringing the (electronic payment) machine. When it was my turn to close out I chose to pay cash in hopes to make it faster. It didn't. I waited 30 minutes for my "cuenta' to pay cash. (Administradores pongan atención a esto).
Overall, I want to go back during the day and to eat. They have a chicken stuffed with plantain O am going back for. I am from the Caribbean and miss plantains so much! In Mexico they usually only serve it as dessert.
I would recommend to visit this restaurant...
