Chose this hotel because it is a Marriott - Design Hotel located in Col. Americana area with lots of restaurants close by. Marriott perks- requested an upgrade from balcony room and got a Junior Suite breakfast included. Got a complimentary welcome drink in the pool bar, very nice. We also requested and received late check-out, good. The staff were all helpful and pleasant most speaking enough English to communicate well enough. The pool area is not huge, but is beautiful and we saw a photo shoot for clothing, lights, camera and the models and staff sitting around luckily we were not wanting to use the area as we were just checking in. ||We enjoy walking and felt safe in this neighborhood. The hotel is "picture perfect", great backdrop if you like to submit photos on social media. Breakfast in the hotel's restaurant was good, patio or indoor seating. A selection of only 2 items from the menu were the "included" breakfast: Continental or Chilaquiles (no eggs, only beans on the side), both were tasty and presented well, but not having the other similar priced menu items included felt odd considering the price of the room and hotel quality, we thought it was a bit strange. Another strange quirk was they gave you 4 coffee pods for free and charged $50 pesos ($3.00 USD) per pod thereafter? Unheard of in a hotel of this class and price. We told the manager our thoughts, he did give us coffee without charge. The small refrigerator was stuffed with ample snacks and beverages for additional cost, some people may enjoy them, we wanted to use the space and removed the items. |The room was large, very comfortable bed, pillows and linens, comfy Robes & slippers available. the bathroom had a marble walk-in shower, beautiful but slippery, one sink with no counter space, only a small cart to put your toiletries, would have liked a large counter for my things, it would make it less cumbersome to get ready. The room was cleaned nicely every day. There was a desk with a stool, two small chairs and a small round table, no couch, it seemed minimalist. Large floor to ceiling windows with black out thermal drapes, needed to block the immense heat from the sun. The a/c worked well, very chilly at night. The room had real keys to lock and unlock your door. Interesting choice of carpet (hard to keep clean) in the hallways that was lined with floor to ceiling opaque glass panels, we walked near the inner wall, it was a little unnerving to sort of see through the exterior "glass wall". |The spa was very clean & nice, we enjoyed using the steam room and sauna one time. It was disappointingly out of order the last night of our stay.|Overall this hotel was good, but lacking somethings we as a couple enjoy...
Read moreTo start, the hotel aesthetic was nice and the service was friendly. As someone who travels to Mexico several times a year, the room prices are comparable to other nice boutique hotels however the quality is not up to standard. The most inconvenient part of the stay is they layout and design of the rooms. The room is small, which would be fine if the space planning were better but it is not. It is terrible for especially a woman trying to get dressed and ready for the day. There is no vanity or place to place for makeup or products in the restroom, just a pedestal sink and tiny wall cutout. Also there is nowhere to set a curling iron or the hair dryer. So the next option would be to sit somewhere outside of the restroom to get ready but there is only a tiny table behind the bed and it is in a completely dark area. Also, there is a chair next to it, not suitable for sitting at said small table. The only option, which was a terrible one, was to lay makeup out on the bed near a window for natural light. I did place a towel under my products however was still charged nearly $300 for makeup on a sheet and two pillowcases. We were travelling with a group of 14. Out of 7 rooms, 5 were charged with damaged sheets. Even if 5 rooms did get "makeup" on the sheets, I truly doubt that all 5 were damaged to the point that they had to be replaced rather than just cleaned. This is not something that we discussed or conspired amongst our group- lets all get makeup on the bed and ruin sheets! It is a space issue the hotel needs to address. Until then, it really seems like a scam to get extra charges on people. Aside from this, the electrical outlets are few and in weird places for charging electronics. My husband had to set his laptop on the floor between the wall and the bed to charge and I had to step over it to get to and from sides of the room. There was no ironing board in our room so again, I had to iron on the bed, totally unacceptable. Another couple in our group was charged for damaged restrooom tiles, which they are absolutely sure did not damage. Beware if staying here and take pictures of every nook in the room upon arrival. Other than this, the free breakfast was mediocre. They charge a dollar for eggs with chilaquiles which seems a little ridiculous, why not just include eggs instead of nickel and diming? The bartenders are actually great and every cocktail had was good although the prices are a little higher than expected. I would not have flinched at the prices if the other issues at the hotel wouldn't have been so prominent. I would not recommend this hotel for a stay but would for a stop at the bar which has a nice vibe in...
Read moreThe hotel would've gotten 1 star if it was not for the comfortability of the bed. ||I booked this hotel specifically because it was part of Marriott and I expected a certain level of service. I also get perks based on my status. Those perks were non existent at this hotel. I had a horrible customer experience and would not recommend this hotel||Check in - very basic, here is your key. The staff did not provide simple details that were needed at check-in from them. For example, how the lights in the room require a key, wifi name and password. ||Day 1- I had a spa appointment booked for 9am. I confirmed at check in that this was scheduled. At 9am, the spa is open and I am there for my appointment. Sadly, there was no one from the hotel there. The door was open, but no staff. I sat there until 9:15. I called the front desk, it rang and rang until it disconnected on its own. Called the manger line, it rang and rang until it disconnected on its own. I proceed to head to the front desk to explain there was no staff present. What a shocker to see 3 employees there. The reply was "Oh, there should be someone there, let me call them and have them go up there". She was nonchalant as if this was a norm. I canceled the appointment as I had other commitments that morning. At this point, they did not value my time; therefore did not deserve my business. ||BUGS* Yes, you read that correctly. The night before check out, I am packing my bags waiting on room service. Pull back the sheet to find some tiny bugs moving across the bed. You can imagine the shock I had as I watched them move. Alfredo from the restaurant immediately took pictures and videos. He had the upmost empathy and immediately said they would move me to another room. He quickly helped me gather things and move all of my items to another room/floor. He alone was visibly ashamed and doing what he could to assist me. ||Upon check out, I let the front desk know of the issue as it was not mentioned. The reply was, we heard there was a problem and apologize. That was it! I was shocked at the lack of empathy and acknowledgement of the larger issue.. there were BUGS in my bed. No offer of any compensation or discount off...
