Review of Amori Sapori, Mexico City
Amori Sapori, located in the bustling heart of Mexico City, positions itself as a beacon of Italian culinary tradition. My recent dining experience there was a mixed bag, offering both moments of culinary delight and instances of missed opportunities.
The Dishes:
Lasagna Bolognese: This classic dish was prepared with a commendable balance of meat sauce and béchamel, layered between sheets of pasta that were just al dente. The flavors were comforting, though not groundbreaking, providing a solid foundation for what was to come.
Tagliatelle Calabrese: Here, Amori Sapori truly excelled. The tagliatelle was perfectly cooked, with a sauce that boasted a harmonious blend of spiciness from the Calabrian chilies and the richness of pork sausage. This dish was not just outstanding for its flavor profile but also for its presentation, which was both elegant and inviting.
Carpaccio Salmon: Unfortunately, this dish was a misstep. The salmon, thinly sliced and intended to be the star of the plate, lacked the delicate texture and freshness one expects from carpaccio. The accompanying elements did little to elevate the salmon, resulting in a dish that felt out of place, especially when compared to the finesse often found in Thai cuisine's handling of raw fish.
Service: The service at Amori Sapori was attentive without being intrusive. The staff's knowledge of the menu was evident, which added to the dining experience by offering insightful recommendations and explanations of the dishes.
Conclusion: Amori Sapori in Mexico City is a place where the highs are very high, but the lows can be somewhat disappointing. For those seeking a taste of Italy in Mexico, the Tagliatelle Calabrese alone might justify a visit. However, the inconsistency, particularly with the Carpaccio Salmon, suggests a need for refinement in certain areas of their menu. If Amori Sapori can maintain the excellence seen in their best dishes across the board, they could easily become a must-visit for food enthusiasts in...
Read morePhenomenal restaurant! Our last dinner in CDMX and our favorite. We started with a glass of the Corte Chardonnay, which was lovely. We had the Tres Variedades de quesos for an appetizer. The softest of the cheeses, which I cannot recall the name of, was out of this world! For entrees, we chose the Gnocchis a la sorrentina and the Risotto azafran con ossobuco de temera. Both were incredibly delicious. I could have had a double portion of the gnocchi dish. The risotto dish was a great contrast to the gnocchi (we share every plate) and was my wife’s first time having marrow. Overall, we were very pleased with the service, and the food was...

Shared a burrata with ham, tomatoes and figs on a bed of salad with drops of balsamic winegar. As a main course i had rigatoni with wild pig ragout. It was served al dente and it was delicious. We accompanied our dinner with a bottle of red wine, which nicely matched with our meal. To wrap it up we shared tiramisù - good not great. Very friendly staff.
I would definitely go back when I'm in the mood for a...
