I along with few of my friends - all Indians - visited Bukhara.
Firstly the service is extremely slow. Your hunger would die just by the amount of time you need to wait.
Secondly, I was the only vegetarian among my friends. The waiter accidentally pointed a non vegetarian dish as vegetarian, which he did realize and swapped it. However instead of apologizing, he started mocking stating that this is how we are we, we can feed vegetarians with non veg food. Thereby mocking my food preference which is unacceptable.
Thirdly, the food was not up to the mark. We ordered mango lassi - which tasted like aam Ras and not a lassi, a friend ordered almond milk shake, which smelled and tasted awful.
Mix veg pakora had normal green chillies fried. Not the chilli's which are meant for pakora's. Seriously!! It burned our mouth!
The food especially kadai paneer ( apparently they call it kadhi panneer) had some sort of artificial sourness. My friends who had non-veg also didn't enjoy the food. Naan was not naan.
Upon sharing the feedback, it wasnt positively consumed. Instead the waiter shrugged his shoulders and ignored our honest feedback as if ' this is how it is whether you like it or not'. Can you believe all 6 of us didn't enjoy the food at the same time. So feedback shared was actually authentic and with a positive mindset that an Indian restaurant can bring out authentic Indian food for people here in Mexico.
I would not have written such a review if our feedback was considered and assured to be worked upon. But looks like they are not interested. Therefore, I'm writing this so that you don't end up in situations like we did.
Finally, In India, it's a basic culture to serve water, which was not served, and upon asking, we were overcharged for 250ml of water. An Indian restaurant that does not hold up Indian values and culture.
I would not recommend this restaurant, because of the attitude of the people who run the restaurant, because of the slow service and I'm sorry to disappoint that this is not how indian food taste. Indian food tastes way better.
Edit after the response from the owner:
Unfortunately you were not the one who picked up our plates, and you didn't see the amount of leftovers. Additionally, please point out what part of the review is not true. Please accept the problems and work towards it. Good luck to your and your restaurant. We are never coming...
Read moreWe ordered delivery from Bukhara for a family Shraddha offering and were shocked at the decline in quality. My husband, who once cooked in an Indian ashram kitchen, was insulted by the cheapness of the meal. We spent approximately $740 pesos with tip for the order you see in the photo.
Daal: a thin, watery broth with barely two tablespoons of lentils (see photo).
Naan: A piece and a half - burnt and brittle (see photo).
Paneer dish: passable but lacked authentic seasoning.
Gulab jamun: tiny pieces swimming in overly sweet syrup.
Rice: Good portion but bland.
The portion sizes and freshness bear no resemblance to the photos still shown on Google from 3+ years ago. Either ownership has changed or a miserly cook is now in charge.
As Swami Sivananda warned, “Do not be miserly in service. Give with a large heart. The miserly man shrinks and suffers.” Bukhara seems to have forgotten this principle. We felt scammed and spiritually saddened that food offered to our ancestors was treated with such stinginess.
If this meal had been served in-house we would have walked out without eating. Until management restores authentic recipes, fair portions, and basic care, we cannot recommend...
Read moreBest Indian Restaurant in the city. I have been to many Indian restaurant in Mexico city but this is best one. As i entered the restaurant, it had those indian vibes, the decor, the music, the vibe, the aroma of Indian food. Coming to food. I ordered Dal tadka ( it's exactly how dal tadka is meant to be, with proper flavours. Proper authentic Punjabi style) Kadhai Paneer ( again unbeatable, it just reminded me of kadhai paneer which we get in India) Roti ( perfectly cooked, nice texture, made of whole wheat flour) Gulab Jamun (perfect sweetness, texture and taste, it melted in mouth, with burst of flavour, it was topped with shredded almonds) Samosa ( it was what it should like be) Along with food they provide complimentary fryums, chutneys(salsas). Overall it was it was a nice food with nice service. Staff and owner were quite friendly and polite, they are keeping up Indian food name. They also have a small shop where you can buy some indian clothes...
