BRING: Skecher flip flops or something with cushion for the stone floors, a LOUD noise machine (not the one on your iphone) (recommend Lexmark). There is no in-room coffee, so bring ground coffee and a portable, folding hotpot if you need one. Outlets are standard two prong, non-polarized. Bring an adapter if you need one. ||USE: The large hinged doors on either side of the bed CLOSE to cut noise from the rest of the hotel. Use them! They also keep the cool air in. The hotel is designed with rooms outside a circular courtyard. It's charming but loud. These doors all but eliminate the noise, at least on Floors 2 and up. Floor 1 is one above Ground. ||USE: The window has two coverings. One is a crucial pocket door that completely covers the window and cuts out the festive street noise (there's a permanent market on one side of the Condesa df that has music, and you will hear it wafting at times - very pleasant). Two is the curtains. This makes the whole room dark for good sleeping. |||Condesa DF is a perfect hotel for first timers and veterans to Mexico City. It is in the best neighborhood (safe, beautiful, fun) and is close to many more fun things to do (Avenida Amsterdam, Anthropology Museum, many cafes and stores). It is an inexpensive uber ride to wherever else you want to go. |We went with a group of 10 for a 60th birthday celebration, and this hotel had comfortable rooms (Patio Queen, nothing fancy) with windows that opened onto the street with fresh air. There was also really cold air conditioning. The ensuite bathroom had a large shower with great water pressure, an 8' ledge that ran the length of the bathroom to put all your dopp kit things on, provided bath gel/shampoo/conditioner, an old but awesome sink and a toilet. The flooring is made of stone, so some in-room flip flops are nice (slippers are provided but not very padded). There is a small fridge that also contains some mini-bar items. ||Our room had a large (32" square) wooden table and two large comfy chairs at the window. This was maybe 2' from the foot of the bed. These rooms are comfortable for two and DEFINITELY European sized and not American sized! There is a separate area for hanging clothes and shoes (sort of like a hall closet but with a curtain - very efficient and fine for 5 days' of clothes). There was also some shelf space in the entry hall. There are no dressers, so this is where we put our non-hanging clothes. |I read on TripAdvisor that the beds were hard, so I ordered a $40 eggcrate topper from Amazon.MX to be delivered to the front desk. I arranged the receipt of this with the front desk by email. ||Front desk seemed to be staffed 24-hours, and the people are so friendly and can work with English. You can leave your large room key there when you exit the premises so you don't have to carry it around. Don't forget the complimentary Añejo Tequila in the lobby; it's expensive to buy and is tasty. Elevator is tiny and pretty available, but we climbed the stone stairs most of the time. ||Rooftop bar is a must. Well-staffed, good sushi, fun drinks, comfy seats, pretty view. Every night, we gathered up here and told stories of the day. ||(European) Breakfast came with our room (except for bottled water which we had every day). It was lovely but not gluten free! Smoked salmon, breads/pastries/muffins, juices (yummy), fruit (we washed our apple with bottle water first), cereals. This is not a bacon/eggs spread, but you can find many of those within walking distance. They have oat milk and maybe almond milk. I got oat milk (leche de avena) with my coffee, and I think there was a small surcharge. ||There was plenty of staff at this hotel. When we needed extra towels, they were available. The housekeeping was great and available daily if you leave your Do Not Disturb sign off. They were friendly. We left a hefty tip in pesos for them on our last day. So worth it! ||Ubers are super cheap and easy to catch outside. There is almost always a bell person outside which is so nice. We tipped the bell person who took up our bags initially. There is a Circle K literally around the corner for your bottled water needs. We went daily and picked up 5 32 oz bottles cheaply. In a pinch, the hotel has this, too, but at a higher cost. Be sure to say "sin gas" if you want it without bubbles! There's also a nice (not a discount) liquor store, literally next door.||All in all, after a long day touring, it was just nice to "come home to the Condesa df" . We would return there in a heartbeat. Thanks to the Condesa df for...

A place that survives only because it is a nice, but lousy service location and high prices is ridiculously true, I have read several comments about the mockery of the staff towards guests / diners and could not believe it until it happened to me, for Error agenda, ended up doing the corporate event year end of the company in the "night club room" of the hotel, plus we paid $ 200US per person to a premium open bar, one hour after the event starts they said us that the "whiskey is off", the excuse was, "is that many of the guests are drinking whiskey on the rocks", can you believe it ?, the event did not include dinner, appetizers only (supposedly cooked by a French chef, but one person with 2 cooking classes cooked it) Unfortunately, we had no dinner taste for that event because the organizer girl was "forgotten" our appointment twice ... well this girl (who emerged as organizer and "head" of the bar) A place that survives only because it is a nice, but lousy service location and high prices is ridiculously true, I have read several comments about the mockery of the staff towards guests / diners and could not believe it until it happened to me, for Error agenda, ended up doing the corporate event year end of the company in the "den" of the hotel, plus we paid $ 200US per person in a wheelchair "premium" scheme when he started the event off they us "whiskey", the excuse was, "is that many of the guests are drinking whiskey on the rocks", can you believe it ?, the event did not include dinner, appetizers only (supposedly a French chef, but that makes any 2 cooking classes) Unfortunately, we had no taste for that event organizer ... was "forgotten" our appointment twice ... well this girl (who emerged as organizer and "head" of the bar) she starts yelling at the party and she get upset that I said "the company had hired for an event" as if it were something wrong to be hired in an event... anyway she didn't a friendly solution, We spend twice budget as anywhere good of the city as we do every year, to wrap up: very poor service, not really good food and cheap drinks for U$200 per person.. Read moreHad high hopes for Condesa DF. Heard it was a buzzy boutique hotel for savvy travelers and a part of a reputable group. I traveled with my mom, and we wanted to love it. The location was perfect for us, and the exterior of the building is beautiful and has great potential. The interior felt very tired and dated. Many spaces were dark and lacked function. They provide zero warm welcome, no materials on the hotel, the area, or the property, and generally had a cold ish attitude towards guests. We paid a premium rate ($600+) for a room with two double beds, and we were very disappointed with our experience.
The room felt like a hostel, very stark and lacked essential items and features, such as any storage areas for items (many things we had to on the ground), nightstands with any surface area or stability (they were feeble and thin and everything fell off - phones, glasses were broken—the old phone took up the whole table), more wastebaskets beyond one in the bathroom, outlets that held our chargers, any proper lighting in the bathroom, any art on the walls, and privacy blinds (we were on the 1st floor and looked right out onto the street and if we wanted privacy it would be black in the room). The beds were rather hard, and the pillows thin. Also, they lacked any clarity on if the water they provided would be safe.
Generally, it felt like a hotel that may have been popular 15 years ago and has not been well maintained. Almost as if the staff don’t care and are sick of tourists. We tried our best to speak Spanish, but the front desk staff were cold and seemed fed up and annoyed about any questions we had.
Pros: breakfast buffet, showered water pressure, restaurant and maid staff, and location.
Cons: all above items, lack of a welcome, tour or context about the area or property, no helpfulness and friendliness of the front desk staff, lack of simple functional features of the room, lack of any purposeful design in the room, no amenities, nighttime noise in the center restaurant that echoes up into all the rooms, and extremely high cost of the room ($600+ a night) for a hotel lacking any real hospitality.
We never leave bad reviews but felt it was important to offset the apparent positive reviews of this property that perhaps reflected an earlier version...
