Casa D’Amico looks the part: polished name, elegant plates, prices that whisper trust me, we’re worth it. But peel back the façade, and what you get is something far less appetizing.
We started with the ravioli en nogada—a clever, playful riff on a Mexican classic. It worked. It was good. For a moment you think, maybe this place has something to say. Then the pizza del chef hits the table. Supposedly roasted pomodoro, kissed by fire. Instead it tasted like tomatoes boiled into submission, lifeless and gray. Bland. A sauce that had never known smoke, never known heat, never known love.

The service needs improvement though, the hostess first placed us on a table that were right at the outing of pizzas, too hot and uncomfortable. When we asked for relocation she did not explain to us that upstairs it was a wine bar and placed us there. The music was too loud and techno, a bit different for a italian restaurant, it was difficult to have a conversation at first before they put the volume down a bit. The meals were a bit overpriced and not memorable, and bread couvert comes before the meal, not together with it. 3/5 for the effort&decor. Oh and please tell the hostess not to stare at women´s clothing,...

We found quality and variety and a favorite table and well…we loved it. We asked for hot chocolate one evening as dessert. It’s not on the menu. But they didn’t blink and I and made it with water for me and milk for my wife and it was delicious. I only wish we had a restaurant like this in our hometown of Charleston South Carolina. And even though we had salad, entrées, dessert and wine with a 20% tip, our bill never...
