Centrina Café — Restaurant in Mexico City

I found this fantastic cafe by chance while walking in the area and it literally made my day! Whether you are a coffee enthusiast, a connoisseur, or simply want to enjoy a proper cup and expand your palate, you must visit Centrina!

They have great Mexican food, a pleasant atmosphere, a welcoming and kind team, and obviously... Wonderful Coffee! Their menu often features seasonal specials (both food and coffee) from different regions of Mexico together with their base menu. The baristas make your coffee with expertise and attention to detail, and all cooks and chefs have a great understanding of their field.

However, what makes Centrina extra special, it's their in house coffee roastery. Run by Ictze Coffee Roasters, here you can find a great selection of Speciality Coffee from some of best coffee growing regions of Mexico. All the coffee beans sold here are roasted in-house, and they can be ground for you if you want. Otherwise, you can just take them whole and grind them fresh back at home.

Recommended by my food tour guide, I knew I came to a serious coffee place when I saw a roastmaster carefully monitoring the temperature diagram while a batch of coffee is being roasted. Needless to say, the coffee was good, but that's beyond the point. The vibe of the place is grungy industrial, but the staff are anything but warm and nice. I was holding a leaky bag of left over from my fruit tasting at the nearby market, and I thought I was discreet when I tried to clean up the mess in my canvas bag. Without prompting, the staff came over with my order AND a plastic bag since she saw me struggling with the sticky mess. It truly warmed my heart and made my day. The coffee was a less than warm. They advertise that it will be served at 65+ degrees, but it felt more like 20-30 degrees. The supervisor started arguing that it was the right temperature. Since he was certain of his argument, I asked him to measure the temperature. He claimed they didn't have a thermometer. I didn't want to start an argument; I just asked him if he could make it a little warmer, and he agreed. The V60 was good. Besides everything, the atmosphere is nice and is right in the city...
