Absolutely the worst dining experience of any restaurant in my life in any country I have travelled. We were a party of two. If you have three or more people you will get seated first. Three groups of three were seated before us and we tried speaking up for ourselves but it didn’t work. We were finally seated and our order was taken quickly. It became very evident that my skin color was a factor (light complexion from USA). The waiter initially pretended not to understand me (which has not been an issue in any Spanish speaking country I have been to including Mexico, Central and South America) while I was ordering and did not bring my drink nor the complementary bread/chips to us until the meal came 15 minutes later. Meanwhile my partner (from Mexico) received his drink immediately. Mine was a lemonade. After my lemonade was finished my partner tried three times to get me more lemonade. I observed other tables that did not have gringos in their group receiving drinks, bread and chips rapidly. The wait was lengthy. The portions and food were a joke. The cordon bleu was described as a chicken breast. It came as two nuggets the size and texture of McDonald’s nuggets. The house salad was iceberg lettuce and the potatoes were simply French fries. The menu said there was dressing on the salad but there wasn’t. I asked for some when the food came but the waiter never returned with it. My partner felt sorry for me and traded his chicken dish which was also very small with me. Unfortunately my phone was dead so I could not take pictures of the food and tiny portions to post. The waiter didn’t come and check in with us not even once. We both left hungry. My recommendation is to skip Sanborns and opt for any one of the delicious street food stalls that prepare quality Mexican food with pride and heart ❤️ for everyone regardless of your skin color. Sanborns is not a good value for your money and the service is awful and employees look miserable. If you do go I hope you have better service than...

I used to enjoy coming to this restaurant for its history and reputation, but after my most recent visit I will never return.

The food and drinks were good, but the experience with the service was TERRIBLE. The waitress took forever to take our order, bring the food, and then made us wait 40 minutes just to get the check. That alone was frustrating, but what happened next turned this into one of the worst dining experiences of my life.

When I reached for my purse to grab my card to pay, my purse was gone. The only people who ever came near our table were the waitresses, as we were seated upstairs by the kitchen. Suddenly, when I mentioned my purse was missing, the staff (who had been so slow all evening) became instantly available. The manager quickly appeared, offering to check the cameras, but before I could even process what was happening I started getting fraud alerts from my bank — attempts to charge over $1,300 USD at Oxxo and 7-Eleven. That’s when I realized I was being robbed.

The staff crowded around us, distracting us. They pressured my partner (who doesn’t speak Spanish) to pay the check, while telling me separately that they were “checking the cameras.” It all felt orchestrated to keep us occupied while my cards were being used.

Looking back, it’s extremely suspicious. I have a strong feeling the waitresses are working with people outside at convenience stores to immediately run stolen cards. One of the waitresses — an older woman with clear glasses — was serving us at the time.

Warning to anyone visiting this restaurant: be VERY careful. Keep your purse and phone on your body at all times. Do not trust that this “established” place is safe — clearly it is not. There are many better, safer restaurants in the area.

It’s heartbreaking because I truly loved coming here in the past, but after this experience they have lost a loyal customer, and I will be warning all of my friends and family...
