El Huequito is justifiably famous for their delicious pastor tacos. Flavorful, juicy and dressed just right with salsa, onions, and cilantro by the taquero, you’ll also help yourself to a tray of lovely salsas. I also thoroughly enjoyed their delicious sopa Azteca which came with crispy fried tortilla strips, a thick slice of fresh ripe avocado, and at the bottom of the bowl, melted fresh cheese which created delightful melty strings and lumps to enjoy with the other components of the soup. I squeeze some lime on the soup and then added dollops of delicious salsa, especially the salsa macha which is a complex chili oil. I came at an off hour after the throngs had passed through for lunch. Eating at a leisurely pace and watching people passing outside on the busy sidewalk, I cannot think of a better meal to enjoy in the Centro Historico of Mexico City.

This is the best taco I’ve ever eaten in my life. I grew up eating tacos on the border of Mexico, and I can’t remember having any like this. The pork is crispy on the outside and super flavorful, with a nice spiciness and just enough salt. The tortilla is made fresh—so delicious. The onions are sautéed then placed under the dripping pork, adding even more flavor. Everything comes together and is well balanced, no one flavor overpowers the others. It’s served with a red picante salsa, which isn't overly spicy. I put their house salsa verde on top, it's nice and cool with a tangy flavor. Top it off with a squeeze of lime and you’ve got the best taco ever. Oh, and it’s $1. I had five tacos, but could have easily eaten ten. Will dream of this taco ... until next time!

Rating 5.0: from the episode in Somebody Feed Phil, and personally the BEST tacos I've had in the touristy parts of Mexico City - and I had ALOT of tacos. I dream of these tacos. Take me back please!!! This is a taco journey to Centro and a must stop at "El Huequito". At first, I was unimpressed. It's a sit down taqueria, almost like a cantina, and it wasn't too busy. However, after ordering, it started to get packed. Fortunately, we had already ordered our al pastor. When our al pastor came, it is one of the most flavorful and amazing taco I've had in my life. Take my word for it. Arguably the best tacos in the touristy parts of Mexico City. This will be my first stop the next time I come back.
