Update after my first review: received a reply from the team here in extreme defensiveness and absolutely no apology. How about you apologize for misrepresenting Levant cuisine? And how about taking responsibility for your utter ineptness in “trying to remedy the situation”. My review still holds. Your food is terrible and your treatment even worse. Others on here (people who have traveled the world it seems) agree with this sentiment. Instead of taking the time to write a lengthy defensive reply here please go educate yourself on how to be a restauranteur.
It all started when we walked into the completely empty restaurant on a hot day asking for a table under a fan only to be told that the tables are “reserved”. I guess they reserved them for ghosts. Then ordered shawarma de carne which was inedibly chewy and has nothing to do with shawarma. Basically cheap beef cubes sautéed in a pan. When I told the server she took the plate away and then brought it back making me explain again what was wrong with it. It was such a distasteful experience that I didn’t eat the rest of the food and asked for the check. And they had the audacity to leave the price of the so-called shawarma and ask for tip. Paid and left for another restaurant. This place has nothing to do with Lebanese or Syrian cuisine (which they so confidently claim) and even less to do with levant...
Read moreEasily the worst dining experience I’ve had in Mexico City. I have never left a negative review of any restaurant publicly, but this was absolutely ridiculous. I ordered a modelo from the tap and it tasted like cleaning supplies. The bartender tried it and agreed that it tasted weird. He proceeded to bring me another modelo that tasted exactly the same. I then threw up twice and when we brought this up to the manager, they refused to compensate us for anything other than the beer. A multitude of excuses followed: the beer lacked carbonation (it didn’t), I had drank tap water that made me sick (I didn’t), or that I had gotten sick from not washing my hands. The implication was that it was my fault I got sick (despite being totally fine for the past 2 weeks in Mexico City) and not their fault for serving me beer from a keg and tap that had not been properly cleaned. Other reviews mention unsanitary beer kegs and getting sick. Had management resolved this in a reasonable way (such as simply compensating our meal instead of offering to call an ambulance), I would not be leaving this review. As it stands though, they refused to acknowledge any wrongdoing and compensate us for anything more than the bad beers. Also, the food was just ok. At least the ...
Read moreI couldn't understand why this restaurant was not as busy for breakfast that has I thought it could be. Nevertheless, it's a beautiful establishment and a wonderful place to enjoy breakfast. I think if you're looking for something a little bit different but still really good, I definitely will go here. We loved our breakfast so much.
We got the pancakes with the sauce on the side. It seemed to be a date and fig type of a sauce for the pancakes. I loved it. Fresh food on the side was also really good. Pancakes were excellent.
I got the Arabic meat omelette which was also a delight. Perfectly cooked eggs. I enjoyed the meat filling. The fresh pita bread was out of this world and their hummus was also excellent.
The juice was very good. We had an Arabic coffee. If you've never had it, I'm not an expert, but it's very similar to Turkish coffee only much stronger and more bitter in my opinion.
Service was professional. They were excellent. They were attentive and not intrusive. The staff there was wonderful. You didn't know that they were around but they were always there to make sure everything was perfect.
Obviously they took credit cards and accepted my Amex with...
